I have had a very long journey with the HT process!
I started in 1988 at the age of 18! I never should've been allowed to go ahead with the surgery, but that HT mill didn't care. I felt mutilated when I saw the punch grafts they used. I thought I had no choice but to go back the next year to have more put in to try and close the huge spaces they left, making my head look like doll hair. Fortunately, I had enough existing hair to cover it up for years. (So that is two surgeries).
Then in 1997, I had a corrective surgery in which they used minis to fill in the spaces and bring down the hairline a little. It helped a lot and it was the "technology" of the time. The next year, I had another procedure to further fill in areas behind the initial punch grafts where my hair had receeded further over the years. (So that is two more surgeries, for a total of four). At that time I was 28.
I always had enough hair to cover all of this work up, but over the last few years, I've noticed the temples really heading back. So after much research and the help of Jotronic's website, I decided on Dr. Wong in Vancouver.
I met with him in October, 2004 and he removed a section of old punch grafts that were abnormally raised and he put them in a old wide scar on the back of my head. I then made an appointment for February, 2005 to have a repair procedure for my hairline and have my temples brought in.
I really had a terrific experience at Hasson & Wong, and I walked away without a bad taste in my mouth. As many of you know who have had work done in the past, that is a common feeling shared by many of us. If you are considering a HT, really think about meeting Dr. Wong. |
