The purpose of this page is to help myself gain clarity, and for others insight, to my personal hair loss experience. A debilitating one which I have endured for the last six and-a-half years; until now. I am currently post-op from the Alvi Armani clinic in Beverly Hills, CA where I received 2000 FUE grafts on April 11th, 2008 in Zone 1 (the hair-line); performed by Dr. Antonio Armani and his staff including Dr. Edwards.
At this point, I feel so excited and happy that I decided to finally go through with it. I had been researching and contemplating a hair-transplant since my early 20's when I really began noticing the thinning in the temple region; that is also the time I first began taking finasteride/minoxidil together. The thing that stopped me from a HT then was the fact that FUE was new, and was not yet popularized for excessively-curly-hair like mine. Back then strip-surgery was king, and not a viable option to me for personal reasons. So what did I do? I gave up all meds and shaved my head bald for the next four years.
I gave up because the Propecia and Minoxidil that I was taking did not yield the instant visible result that I was wishing for. Huge mistake; however I've lived and learned and I have been back on both since January 2007. My current aspiration is to update this page every month with new pictures so my friends/family can view my progress. |
