 My Hair Loss History

I started losing my hair around the age of 22. Initially it was only thinning in the crown, it was like a second bald spot, right above my naturally occurring one.
Following this, I started losing some more crown hair, some hair in the middle/top of my head(strange pattern of loss which you can see in my pictures), and my hairline started thinning.
About 2 1/2 years ago, I started using dermmatch/toppik to conceal the loss(I really 'caked' it on daily) and the hairloss progressed VERY rapidly albeit diffusely after that point. It slowed/stabalized in this last year.
Went in for surgery with Dr. Hasson in Vancouver on December 6th, 2006 and got a graft count of 5828. Due to my head shape which apparently is narrower to the front and wider to the back, the grafts were split up about equally between the front and back half.
Some stats:
-Strip Size: 2.5cm/30cm
-1000 singles used in the hairline
-836 singles used in a wreath formation around my head
-3992 multis used down the middle
-grafts per cm squared ranges from 25-45, back to front
-My hair diameter was apparently ~95 microns, compared to the usual 50-80.
-Dr. Hasson estimates I have approximately 3-4k more grafts available for the future(9-10k grafts)
I'm considering going back in another years time for a second procedure of around 2.5-3k grafts for more density in the hairline/crown and to hopefully get a thinner scar. I'll see how this first one turns out though, maybe I'll change my mind... |
