Hair Transplant Questions & Answers

Subject: Propecia after transplants

Question: I would like to ask does taking propecia helps hair growth faster after hair transplant for transplanted hair. Is it necessary to take propecia after transplant if yes how long should it be continued as i have heard once you stop using propecia the hair which grows falls out?

Answer: Propecia should have no effect on the grafts themselves as the donor hair is not adversely affected by DHT. That is why it is used as donor hair. Propecia though does maintain or bring back native hair in the recipient area & can be used for that purpose any time before or after surgery.
