Shortly
after arriving at Florida’s
Fort Lauderdale International on August 6th at
around 8:30 pm, I proceeded to rent a car and head
north to Boca Raton. In traditional South Florida
style during the summer, I was greeted by a long-forgotten
afternoon thunderstorm. It did, however, abate within
a half hour and shortly after checking into the hotel,
I went to bed in order to minimize the effects of
jet lag on the following day.
Having met Doctor Bauman and other hair transplant
surgeons before, I believed I had somewhat of an
idea as to what to expect during the visit to his
clinic. Based on previous experience in the medical
industry as well as feedback from others, I also
expected to encounter some negatives.
I
was however, pleasantly surprised to encounter
few, if any. Not only was the staff extremely welcoming
and accommodating, Doctor Bauman also made an extra
effort to make the visit both exciting and educational.
While doctor’s
egos often influence or affect their behavior and
conduct, such was not the case with Doctor B. In
addition, there is also a less-than-ideal rapore
that often exists between doctors. Once again,
this was not the case at Bauman Medical. In addition
to numerous positive comments from the staff, I also
picked up a positive vibe from everyone and got the
impression that Doctor Bauman has fostered and environment
of teamwork. Evidence of this could be seen in the
way the staff, both administrative and medical interacted
with each other.
The visit was essentially broken into two days
with day 1 being dedicated to interviews and introduction
to the clinic and day 2 being dedicated to surgery.
Day
1 started with Doctor Bauman providing an extensive
interview detailing his background, credentials,
history of his practice and thoughts on the hair
transplant industry. That was followed by a tour
and overview of his practice as well as an introduction
to his staff. That was followed by interviews with
some of the key members as well as a videography
and a photo shoot of all.
Day
2 began first thing in the morning at 8:00
am with a pre-op interview with the patient. That
was followed by the sequence of events dictated by
the particular surgery to be performed on the patient.
Fortunately, only one surgery was scheduled for that
day, allowing us to spend extra time collecting additional
detail and information that may have otherwise not
been possible. Once again, the staff was extremely
accommodating throughout the day, as was the patient,
who expressed his thoughts on the experience throughout
the surgery.
