I have to shave my scalp to get rid of the remaining sparse hair before I apply my hairpiece.

When I apply my adhesive after shaving, it stings and irritates my scalp, and I feel like it can't be a good thing that I'm putting irritating hydrocarbons into my freshly-razored scalp.

Is this really a safe thing to be doing on a regular basis?

I use Mity-Tite dab-on adhesive with a polyurethane ultra-thin skin system.
I tried using ORWG and I didn't like it; it seemed weak and messy.

I think it is better to shave with a electric razor instead of a wet razor for under your hairpiece. Wet razor can cause the hairs to grown inwards to your skin and make irritation. Also, electric razor leaves tiny hairs, which are good to help the glue or tape to stick.
