Hello Dr Gencheff. According to the profile page linked in this post it says "TECHNIQUES : minigrafting, micrografting ". If I am not mistaken those techniques are no longer the current state of the art which uses exclusively follicular units (perhaps with careful use of a few doubled FU's like Shapiro does). I'd be interested in your thoughts on your choice of techniques as you seem to be a very experience HT doctor. Thanks for your time!

Nomenclature, or terminology, standardization seems to be what we are getting at here. The terms mini-graft and micro-graft can be thought of as interchangeable with follicular units. A follicular unit is a grouping of 1, 2 or 3-rooted systems within a bundle growing naturally within their environment. A follicular grouping of more than 2 roots or a follicular unit of 2 to 4 hairs can be considered a small mini-graft. Understand this, a mini-graft can include more than 2 to 3 root systems and a micro-graft typically includes 1 to 2. The micro-graft years ago was technically a graft with 1 or 2 roots (much like a follicular unit) which might have been cut into. Standardization of the nomenclature is something that is important and currently follicular units and their specific individual dissection in their own bundle under magnification are state of the art which is performed at Madison Hair Transplant Clinic.
