At the age of 20 I noticed my hairline receding and the temple areas were slowly shifting back. By my 24th birthday my hairline virtually disappeared and I became desperate to fix this cosmetic problem. I was clueless about the hair transplant industry and believed that the surgery would be simple and reliable. Just like walking into a dry cleaner and picking up a pair of cleaned slacks.

The sad reality is that surgeries are not a joke. They need to be seriously considered once you have created an extensive checklist and your homework about the procedure has been properly done. Some tips that I wish I would have done prior to having a transplant are the following:

1. Discovered this website long before battling hair loss. 2. Assessed pros and cons of hair transplants. 3. Talked to real patients on this website who had successful and tragic outcomes and understand the difference between the two results. 4. Seen lots of pictures of potential scarring of FUE and FUT surgeries and comprehend what steps are involved in each style of surgery and what they consist of. 5. Had many face to face consultations with top doctors in the field and taking my time without being rushed into anything. 6. Asked a lot of questions to ethical experts in the field and real repair patients.

Unfortunately I did the opposite and just rushed into this mess without completing any of these vital steps. Guys please be careful and do not see hair loss as a simple fix because it is not. Hair transplants can become a nightmare if you are not careful.

During the summer of 2013 I experienced the biggest mistake of my life as a youngster: a rushed hair transplant without properly researching the pros and cons of this procedure.

I underwent a FUT strip surgery and received 3,200 grafts. After a year I had a disappointing yield of around 5%. It was devastating. I was petrified and I had never felt and understood fear until I experienced this strip hair transplant mess. I felt like a piece of me was missing due to always feeling self-conscious about this line behind my head.

I knew that shaving my head would be my only option. I was left with a thin linear scar and ever since my mission was to repair this mistake. Thankfully I healed well and my genes allowed for this traumatic experience to be less catastrophic because my scarring was minimal. In 2014 I did some smp which turned out well but I do not advocate it because there are too many challenges with this type of repair work. Please be careful with all cosmetic procedures and research everything carefully.

I was fortunate that I learned from my mistake and did my homework this time around in the repair journey. I followed Northeastguy's repair with Dr. Cole which was impressive and gave me hope. I decided to not sit on my hands and did lots of research. I received 2 FUE scar grating repair surgeries with Dr. John Cole which have been fantastic as he is a master at what he does. I am very pleased and I am healing well. I'm coming up on 2 years since my first repair surgery with Dr. Cole. I am now deciding if I should go for a last and final 3rd round with Dr. Cole or if I will proceed with Fraxel Restore laser to put the final touches and be done with this repair journey. Below you will see my updates thus far.

Aztec don't beat yourself up. The majority of the industry is intentionally deceptive so it's not your fault. Even if you came to the forums before your surgery it could have ended up the same. These guys that work in the industry have so many screen names going and try to create so much social proof that it becomes confusing for most and many simply get trapped in the web.

It than becomes a choice of watching it all for years to try and figure it out or just walking away from considering this procedure. Most should probably just walk away guys like myself had no choice but to watch for years in my case 10 years of watching these idiots and their game. These industry people that work the forums on a daily basis are not what they appear to be but most prospective patients don't know that because they can't spend the time for many reasons which works against them.

Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Stay away from doctors who perform mega sessions, have posts deleted, attack posters, sue patients & forum owners, use power drills or robots. I recommend fue with hand punches in the .70-.85 range. I consulted with dozens of clinics over the years and there was a recurring theme regarding FUE among some employees of those other clinics. I was told Bisanga was the man my research told me the same and my experience validated my own research.

Hi Aztec,

I am interested in seeing your scar repair as I am unfortunately in the same boat as you and looking into scar repair. I am interested in travelling to see Dr Cole and am still doing research on this. I have been looking forward to seeing your results.

Farrel could you please help Aztec upload his pictures for others in the same situation to see?

Hi backnats, I haven't forgotten about it I will have my 1st Fraxel Restore laser treatment tomorrow on my strip scar. I'm doing a series of 4 treatments with one month of space between each treatment. I am focusing on improving texture, color, flatten the right side, and create new collagen to override the scar tissue and create a natural look to blend it in with the scalp native skin. I will take pictures. I might just post the photobucket link if it becomes a hassle to upload one image at a time. I will post soon guys!

Hi Aztec, thought you disappeared. I was checking this daily. Glad to see you're gonna post them soon, please don't take too long. We might freeze in the winter without the warmth of grafted scar pics to keep us warm & cozy.

This is a picture from November 25th 2014 when I made the best choice ever and went with Dr. John Cole who did a beautiful job on me I received 456 grafts which was a lot. It would have been easier to do 200 FUE grafts in 3 different passes. That's what I would recommend. The yield was good but my right side was stubborn. The second pass was awesome!

Scar info:
28 cm long x 2mm wide and 1mm in some areas

253 two hair grafts
167 three hair grafts
36 four hair grafts
456 grafts placed total

Here is a picture when I was about 8 months post-op from round 1 with Dr. Cole. Here I am at a 0 guard with clippers. The healing and growth looks great. During my visit with Dr. Cole I felt peaceful and take care of because I knew that Dr. Cole is an excellent ethical doctor. He was caring and paid attention to every small detail. He is a true artist and master

On 10/08/15 I went in for my 2nd round of scar grafting with Dr. Cole and received 300 grafts. This surgery was the icing on the cake and the growth was amazing. The yield was easily over 90% and I look awesome after this 2nd pass. The first pass was too aggressive and Dr. Cole cautioned me about this but I thought I wasn't returning again so that's why I crammed. Guys just take your time and do small passes each time I will post these pictures once I receive them. This was the graft breakdown.

300 total FUE scar grafts

137-2's
120-3's
43-1's

This picture was taken on January 10th 2016 which was 3 months post-op after my 2nd pass. The growth was early and strong. The redness is visible which is a good sign of blood circulation.

I am extremely happy with my repair journey and I thank so many veterans on here for their support and wisdom. Topcat, Northeastguy, StevieR, and many other guys thank you!!! I decided to finish off with Fraxel Restore treatments because I wanted to improve the color, texture, and blend in the scar tissue more with native skin. Here are pictures immediately after my 1st treatment. Sunscreen and Marula oil were applied immediately after.
