Wassup,
Looking good, my man. How many grafts does this make that you have currently? 5600? Thanks for sharing your progress. You must be thrilled.

Thanks Joe - it seems like it's been a long time in the making (3+ years and counting since surgery #1) but well worth the wait. I believe the count is around 5600 - I probably could get an exact graft count from Dr. Cole's office but I believe 5600 is close.

Good to see the update on your progress. We don't get to see that many of our products this far along since most of our patients come from out of town. Most of the time our patients simply forget about us until their hair loss progresses. Thank you for giving us a glimpse.

There are many important messages here.

This is a Class 3V to 4V, who is now for all practical purposes pushing into 5. Great results take time especially when hair loss is still in progress. Many individuals expect finished one pass results. Some times this is the case. In many other instances the desire for more fullness leads to more than one procedure. In this instance, one could easily consider this a finished case. Unfortunately, some maintain a desire for others to see them as they perceive themselves (an un-godly amount of hair). It appears there is still some unfinished business at hand. We are switching from strip to FIT in an effort to eliminate the tug on the donor area, a wider scar, and to maximize the donor area potential. it is difficult to imagine that we will see better results in his photograph, but there is no reason to believe that wassup will not see improvement in the mirror one year after his next procedure.

Many want to see more and more finished FIT cases. We began our larger sessions of FIT in the Winter of 2003. We primarily did smaller cases until then. They initially were about 10% of our practice. By last summer they (FIT) were 80% of our practice. Today, they (FIT) are over 90% of our practice. Most of our really great results are still one or two years away by photographic standards, but they are coming. our technique and methods have improved immensely over the past two years and they continue to improve every month.

There is a tremendous difference between one and two procedures.

It takes about 1 year after the second procedure to see the true benefits of a second procedure.

Great results, wassup. Look forward to seeing you in person soon.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful results.
I always wonder how you look like and i asked Dr Cole many times about you...truly one of the best hair transplant results ever.
I agree with the points that Dr Cole make, It really takes more then one year to evaluate final results.
Hair transplant surgery requires a lot of patient and long waiting time until final results...eventually, like in your case it is worth the waiting.
I look forward to see you in your next procedure.

Wassup,
You and I are similar in the number of FUs..mine being 5178. Where we differ is that your wait has been 3 years, while mine has been 25.

CONGRATULATIONS to you. Your results are magnificent and give me a mirror into what I can expect over the next few months.

Not that it matters now because you look incredible, but it's amazing how little coverage you received after your first transplant of 2800 grafts. You had 4000 grown in before your third and you still had that see through look...I'm not being critical, I'm just astounded at how much it actually took to give you your currant look.

DaiVernon,
This is what patients needs to learn,
on some cases it will take 1 procedure and 8-12 month to achieve the goal.
on others it will take couple of years to get the final results.
Not all the patients are the same, some grow hair fast...some don't. The ones who don't, needs to take a deep breath and wait.

How true and under appreciated. Patient characteristics are so important.

I'm fortunate in that my hair is extremely thick shafted. This had a lot to do with why my density looked so good after my first surgery with Dr.Wong. In truth, the density wasn't all that good.

As I progress after my second surgery, which added density and crown work, the difference is astounding, even after
only 4 months.

DaiVernon,

If the goal of HT is to stop light from reaching bald scalp, characteristics such as hair shaft diameter and follicular density (hairs per FU) will work for you as much as graph count. Patients like Joe and Wassup require many graphs. I image that this is because while their laxities and densities are working for them, their follicular densities (shingling effect!!!) and shaft diameters are not so much.

I think I saw your pics. It looks to me like you have some better than average donor hair - you are lucky.

Be good

Since I'm thrilled by this patient results, I took the time to search for more photos on our server and I dig up this photo.
it is a comparison between the during first procedure and during second procedure.
notice how bald he was before the first procedure.

Don't get me wrong, your currant results are tremendous...Was the patient ever on Propecia prior to transplants...addtional loss may also have been a factor.

None of this matters anymore as he looks rather studly and will need to beat the chicks away with a stick.

Thanks for the encouraging words everyone. With the 4th procedure I'm basically hoping to fill in more areas (a little more up front, maybe a little in the back and my left side is thicker than my right and also possibly fill some in my scar) and be able to wear a couple new styles.

Dai:

I struggled with the results of my first procedure, I really thought 2700-2800 would look a lot different at the time too... I'm definately no expert, but in hinds sight I think some of the following may have had an affect :

-I had shock loss, some of which never returned or grew back - I felt like I swapped out healthy hair for the shocked hair and then from my 2nd procedure on I was able to add density (i'll post a couple pictures of the shock, the quality is going to be really bad though).
-I did not start on procecia until after my 2nd procedure - loss may have been progressing until I started taking
-After my third procedure I started using 5% generic brand minoxidil once a day at night

Currently I'm taking proscar, using 5% generic minoxidil at nights, and taking around 1300 mg of MSM a day

-in the pictures before.jpg was the night before the surgery, at the time I was really wearing my hair long and would try to do the "flip" thing to cover up my balding so it may give the appearance I have a little more hair that what I really did (or what I thought I did anyways,)

-around6weeksAfter1st.jpg - is around 6 weeks after the procedure and show some loss

-around12monthsAfter1st.jpg - is around 12 months, not a huge visible difference but the hair is healthy, stronger hair than before...
