Hi,
I am new to this forum and was just wondering if any of you ladies have experience with wearing a hair system. I am seriously considering going that route after trying Rogaine with no success, a hair transplant with little evidence of improvement, and seeing a naturopath and taking a zillion vitamins and dramatically changing my life style for no results.
I am sick of chasing after this or that, only to be disappointed by the results, or lack there of, and just want to have nice hair again so I can rediscover my sense of self confidence and move on with my life! Im sure you all totally understand where I am coming from.
I have read some wonderful things about hair systems and how dramatically they have changed the lives of the women who finally chose that route for themselves. I desperately want to conquer this mountain so I can see the horizon on the other side, and I have found alot of support from various hairloss forums. I just want to make sure I do all my research before taking the plunge and partially shaving my head........)))zoiks(((
I already dealt with HCM and have vowed never to go back b/c I always felt terrible after leaving there. I tried their EXT hair therapy for a while, with no results, then had them do my transplant surgery back in Feb, yet here I am still looking for my miracle. I wont waste anymore time or money going to a giant company who could care less about the people they are supposed to be helping.
Anyone who has some experience with wearing hair and would like to share their story and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance, and my heart goes out to all of you suffering with this god forsaken ailment of hairloss, who would have thought, as women, we would have to deal with this?!?!?!?
Many Blessings~ Terra

Hi There. I wear a full-cap wig by Amy Gibson's Crown and Glory company. It works great! It is light and comfortable. I buy her new form of cynthetic hair which is called cyberhair, and it is great. I actually keep my hair pretty much grown out. I have a cap that fits nicely to my scalp, and all that I use are two pieces of tape on my sideburns, and the piece stays on for days. I am then able to take it off to shower to keep my scalp nice and clean. I own three pieces, one for working out, and the others to be used interchangeably. Hope this helps. By the way way, the name for the wig that buy from her is called Kassia, as her wigs have different names.

Hi I wear a hair system, it's human hair, glued on, go to service it once a month... but the factories coat it with a high gloss sheen that's reflective so the only problem with it is if under direct light indoors or outside when really sunny the hair looks very very shinny, has that wig look and if you still have some of your hair like i do you can really see the difference it drawns more attention to me then before, but if in a room with diffused light it looks good?
meet someone that shed some light on why this happens: because hair systems knot the hairs they don't all fall in the same direction so the cuticles needed to be coated to avoid breakage, unlike hair Extensions that don't have this problem because hair is attached in the same direction so it actually looks real? maybe more to it?
On the hunt for a system that doesn't have that high gloss wig look If anyone has suggestions would Desperately love them

here's some good info on systems, been doing more research posted this in another section thought it may apply here as well
Always ask to meet someone that wears one of the companies systems
Majority of companies that have 100% European hair in the price range of 900-1400 per system are processed hair this is the reason for the shine coating. Pro's: they stay flat to your head and look more natural in lighter colour's If someone touches your head they won't feel it Con: Attached by glue, when hair grows back gets a little itchy but not a big deal *Always leave length longer because split ends will make system loose length Have to Shave top of your head where system goes
Real Human Hair systems that are not processed match your hair with no difference, price range at 3200-4000 per system and last 2 years vs. 6 months to 1 year Pro's: hair quality, look, feel you can't compare, looks great they Don't use glue to attach Con's: You Can feel the system ridge
Hair systems with clips If you have long hair I would avoid this route I wasted $800 and never used it because it shifts, the clips pop, and the thread they use to tie the clips in comes out and loosen every once and a while found it only looked right if wearing a headband.
Talk to as many people as you can if going this route and see which works best for you

i have been doing a number of ladies hair systems for the last four years so although i havent been though losing my hair myself i know it has changed there lives around for the better.
I only really know about hair replacement so i guess im biased but from what iv read on the internet it is the only proven way of giving people back a FULL looking head of hair. It can be expensive but at least your recieving the bennifits of having hair unlike the medication you can spend so much on and get no results and more let downs. Systems can be bonded on for 4-6 weeks on average and the maintenance is not much more then going to the salon. But the best part about it for the clients i see is that there hair loss is no longer an issue they have accepted there own hair may not grow back but this gives them a natural looking head of hair they are happy with and few people in their personal lives know about it. I would recommed you get the systems cut in by someone who knows about systems so they can texture it in the right places. The cut and style make a massive difference on how natual it looks.xx

Don't they make you HOT????
and if you have a "system" on your head for weeks at a time, doesn't it get gross and smelly underneath?

I wear a hair system. It's a top piece that is attached with tape or glue. I got so tired of trying to regrow my thin hair so I finally switched to a hair system a few years ago. I have been very happy ordering my system online and doing everything myself. I was really getting ripped off by my previous hair club.
I was wondering if anyone else here orders their systems online. I'm asking because I have recently started having quality issues with my online hair replacement company (Hair Direct). Has anyone here used Coolpiece or Toplace? I haven't read many good reviews about Toplace. Most of them seem to be negative. However, a lot of people seem to be happy with Coolpiece and I would like to hear about your experiences with them. I'm very nervous about trying other companies. Thanks in advance for all your help.

Hi LadyHair,
You may recognize me from the boards and blog at HD. Sorry to hear you are having trouble, have you addressed this issue with them? Can you tell me what type of hair you are ordering? I'd like to help you if possible.
I know that since I started ordering 100% remy, I have never had any issues with my hair.
Let me know if I can help!
Babe

Hi Babe,
I do recognize you from the HD boards and blog although I have never actually participated in the community area. I do appreciate your offer to help but I really believe that should have come from Hair Direct.
I have been a customer for approximately 3 years. My first 2 units had the correct specs. Ever since then, all of my units have been sent to me with mistakes. The mistakes have progressively gotten worse.
I tried first to work with my "hair tech" but she just kept saying that they would get it right next time. Her boss apologized when I contacted her but didn't do much to prevent future mistakes. I switched hair techs and ended up with more mistakes. By mistakes I mean wrong hair color from what I ordered, curly hair when I ordered straight, short hair when I ordered long, different base than what I ordered, and always always always density issues. I was even told once that the factory was having density issues. I guess that excuse was supposed to last for the next 3 units I received which had wrong densities too.
Babe, if Hair Direct is working out for you then that is great. I wish you nothing but the best with them.
A friend of mine ordered a unit from Coolpiece a few months ago and received it 2 weeks ago. It's a great quality unit for a very reasonable price. She didn't have to sign up for a minimum number of units to get a decent deal the way HD makes you do.
So, I decided to place my order with Coolpiece. As for HD, I will walk around with a shaved head before I ever go back to them. Take care and good luck.

Aimee,
I agree that the hair systems really help to transform people. Not only have I suffered from hair loss, I have also had to deal with a lack of confidence. I avoided social gatherings and even went as far as to avoid family.
It's such a sad thing to lose your confidence when you start losing your hair. I didn't gain all my confidence back after wearing a hair system either though. I felt tons better but I'm still working on improving how I feel about myself. Years of feeling ugly and abnormal from hair loss have really taken its toll on me.
I think that all the mistakes from my current hair system company have really added stress to the whole situation. I'm pretty sure that I'll be happy with the new company since I have heard so many good things. Also, Coolpiece is recommended by the American Hair Loss Association. I feel like I'm in good hands now.

Hi LadyHair,
Im sorry that you felt like that i understand it takes years to get confidence back!I dont think that people with hair loss are beautifull for instance my aunt is going through chemo and i have just shaved her head and she looks beautifull which im sure you do!!!
I am glad you have found the right company for you it is somewhat annoying when things aren't quite right with the systems so good luck with everything!!

I am unable to make a new topic so I place my question here.
Im doing research to the responds of society towards bald woman. The questions are:
1. Do people ask you about why you are bald? 2. if so, are it strangers or people you know. 3. How many people did ask you? Could you put a number on it?
Thx!
Anna

Hey terra I am also new to this forum and i have lost some hair due to relaxing my hair which I have stopped thankfully. I wear wigs and am currently in the process of getting a synthetic lace front wig which gives you the appearance of the hair looking like it is growing from your scalp. I tried one on and loved it. The best thing is that you could take it off and condition your own hair underneath. Another advantage is the fact that some synthetic lace fronts are made of futura hair the can be curled and straightened. Human hair lace fronts can be quite expensive so if you just want to try it out the most you will spend is $40 on a synthetic one. There are acouple of websites I go to here are some you might want to look into; hairsisters.com, gmbs.com, and even ebay sells some that are imported from china that are handmade and very nice. I hope this helps with the decision making and best of wishes to all of the people on this forum.

I am new to this forum too, brand new! I have been dealing with hair loss for about 8 yrs now and finally went to a piece that I clip in and out. It blends with my own hair and I am very happy to have it. Mine is synthetic and very durable, I went to a salon nearby that works with genetic and cancer related hair loss, wigs, hair pieces etc. I was not ready for the big shave or a full wig. This is the best of both worlds because I still have my own hair and when I go out it is just "better" you could say. I wish I would have done this a couple years ago. I worked so hard camouflaging with styles, toppiK, volumizers, etc. It feels good to know that my hair looks like real hair and it looks full and healthy, even if it not my God given hair. I was devastated about going and getting this piece. It took every emotional fiber of my being to drag myself there and let people see my loss and help me try on pieces. Luckily, I was a pretty good camouflager these last years, because all my close friends and family just think I changed my style from curly to straight and got some highlights. My hair piece even has a part that looks like my own skin. I kept my hair pulled back so much before this new look, that only my husband knows the truth. I was very concerned with complete anonymity. I am getting more confident everyday with taking it on and off and blending my front hairline to look seamless. People want to know where I had my hair done at and I have to tell them I did it out of town. I will eventually go to a bonded piece when I no longer have enough hair to use with this piece. I encourage you to do it and research it well, I had been reading on it for several years before I made this move. It has been very freeing for me! I can wear my hair down again, in a new and modern style. I feel 33 again instead of 93! Good luck and God Bless!
