I'm sure THOUSANDS of "compounds" are in different concentrations in bald vs non-bald scalp. Why are they so sure of this PGD2

They suggest that by blocking the receptors of these proteins it will allow hair to grow freely. They will do clinical trials, or hopefully some genius puts this stuff together n tries it out

^ not true. All that they've discovered is that balding men have more of that protein on their scalp. That's it. Whether that protein alone is responsible for hair loss is still up to debate

As far as I know there is literally no proof at all this does much of anything yet alone cure hair loss. Do you know how many different things could be different between balding and non balding scalps? There could be 100 different proteins involved it does not mean this 1 completely controls hair growth or changing it actually changes hair growth at all. It might 20 years before they unravel the web of proteins you need to actually change to use this finding for something practical. I think its just them trying to give hope which is why every 5 years we get a story like this.

Well i understand you are sceptical but im here to give the facts . That researcher took that protein and inserted it on mice guess what? they started loosing hair too, so thats why its a promising research , we shall wait and see.

here is a better explanation of the project.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostaglandin_D2

It could be many other proteins as someone mentioned earlier, but that they found someone that does this is amazing, the treatments can be avaible sooner than ever. I also understand why u guys complain. I have been waiting for histogen they said as allways 5 years. and it was supposed to be released in 2013-14 now its 2015 -16. And Aderans.. who knows how long they are going to expand it i guess we all have a hair like Socrates before that happends. Im only 20 years old and have a receiding hairline im telling u it sucks... it sucks bad it gives me depression whenever i talk about it. Its not about dating, because as long as you have confidence and a little bit of money u can will have active dating life, we have seen short, bald, ugly, and many other types of males dating gorgeous women. But it hurts my selfesteem , it hurts the way i look at myself , and it changes ur personality too since ur not feeling comfortable with your self. It saddens me we live in a time where we have this alien technology, and yet we cant cure a common cold or treat hair loss, we are progressing , this motivated me to be a researcher cause i wanted find things out . But the salary was low so i decided to go for electrical engineering. Its all in the hands of these researchers.... This research however can either stop or maybe grow back the hair? since the hairfollicles arent dead they just need to wake up. Lets continue using what we do for hair loss and enjoy our life , if it doesnt go then atleast we have minoxidil and propecia.

A young hair loss sufferer at 20 , with a receeding hairline. Im gonna start with Nisim new hair biofactors soon. It because my scalp and my hairline itches so much no matter how i wash it. I have tried nizoral and it didnt help , so nisim claims that it helps against genetic hairloss too ,we shall see. I tried minoxidil before but with a itchy hairline and scalp my hairline became itchy and worse. I want to try propecia but the risks and side effects everyone tells seen to scare me.

I think the more interesting thing is that they used explanted HUMAN hair in culture and over 7 days added increasing amounts of Pgd2 and 15-dpgj2. The pgd2 treated hair was 62% shorter than the control after 7 days. The 15-dpgj2 treated hair had its growth completely inhibited!

-------------------------
1.25mg Fin daily
Minox foam or liquid intermittently
Nizoral shampoo every 2-3 days
----------------
We need something better than Fin approved that targets the scalp only.
We need much better hair growth stimulants.

Upregulating only PGD2 causes alopecia in mice. Suppressing PGD2 causes follicles to go into anagen. See the scientific data and believe me...it works.

There is no need for Propecia. DHT inhibits hair growth by upregulating TGF-beta. Suppressing TGF-beta slows or halts the catagen phase. There a few things you can use to suppress TGF-beta. One of them being Hydrangea Macrophylls . It works.

Do you have a link to a study for the upregulating of TGF-Beta causing hairloss?

Transforming growth factor beta (TGF-?) is a protein that controls proliferation, cellular differentiation, and other functions in most cells.

interesting.... do you have any sources?

I saw a 2003 study on Nature.com that said that Hydro plant is effective at reducing Catagen phase.
