opinions? do you think taking finasteride or and other alpha 5 reductase inhibitors will decrease your chances of having a heart attack in the future?

ok so men with frontal baldness are more likely to have a heart attack than those that are non bald and those that have vertex balding. So to answer your question, I doubt it since its frontal balders that are affected and fin has a minimal effect on a receeding hairline.

Both my grandads died of heart failure.. oh well I would probably rather be dead than bald anyway.

But bad news nonetheless. As if our cosmetic worries wern't enough. However I would really like to study the science behind these claims. Whats the difference in terms of androgens of those with frontal vs vertex balding? I thought ALL balding was pretty much the same and the only thing that determined where u went bald was ur GENETICS i.e. where u inherited ur pattern of hair sensitive follicles?

Maybe some guys that go bald give up on themselves. They go out less, exercise less and eat bad food. Therefore they are more likely to suffer a heart attack.

Hairloss is a skin condition that can affect some men badly.

-------------------------
1.25mg Fin daily
Minox foam or liquid intermittently
Nizoral shampoo every 2-3 days
----------------
We need something better than Fin approved that targets the scalp only.
We need much better hair growth stimulants.

Well said and I think this is exactly it. Before I started losing my hair I was keeping myself fit I ate better I had a different girl every other week and then things started to decline over the past couple of years. Now my hair is back again I'm feeling like I did back then and my confidence if improving a lot.

-------------------------
Alpecin C1 shampoo once every 1-2 days.

Skin, hair and nails vitamin once a day.

I think that the baldness and heartattack connection has something to do with the progenator cells. Hair progenator cells in bald men do not work as well as normal cells in non balding men. There could be something similar happening in heart cells. A normal heart replaces about 1/2 its cells over a 25 year period, not exactly a rapidly regenerated organ. But over 50 years of time, if your heart isn't as good as the other non balding gentlemen because of poor progenator cell function, then it makes sense to see higher incident of heart attack.

At least this is my theory. Do antiandrogens help... I would have no clue.

F@(K it! No treatments. Nothing. Im done wasting money.
Dr. Thomas (scum) Wentland-1800 hairs, destroyed my life.

This is another study that shows a correlation, but does not provide any evidence for cause and effect. For example, 85% of men in prison chew gum, but only 45% of men not in prison chew gum, so gum chewing causes crime.

-------------------------
5 mg fin/day
1 application capillogain/day
Ginger PO shampoo every day

^ bingo. They should have compared people's lifestyles instead of purely looking at how bald you are...

Baldness causes more stress in your life thus more heart attacks.

The biggest cause of hair loss in both genders, however, is predominantly a sensitivity of the hair follicles to the androgenic hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT).

Its true, both my brothers chewed gum for years before they went to prison. One chewed so much gum daily that he got two life sentences. I on the other hand don't chew gum, and I don't have a criminal record. Makes sense.
