Been battling with the idea of rogaine for many months now. I've been on fin (proscar 1/4 daily) for 15 months now and really feel as though things have only become worse. I am 100% troubled as to what to do next.

1. quit fin?
2. stay on fin and give it more time?
3. quit fin and try minox?
4. stay on fin and start minox?

Now, #4 seems to be the logical decision, but I have a real problem with the application process. I tried it once before and it was 100% impossible to to apply without getting it throughout my hair. My hair is VERY thin! So thin that if I don't style it within minutes of getting out of the shower, it will dry in whatever position it is in and look really stupid. Trying to apply minox was even worse. Virtually no way what so ever to apply it and still end up with a normal style when it dries. My hair is so thin that I actually don't have the ability for a clean stylish look. Best look I can achieve is the "laid flat, messed up look" (no comb).

Whats funny is that my scalp is very clear and viewable throughout the front top area, but looking closely, I still see a lot of hair. It is just very fine and almost invisible. Cant help but feel "thickening", rather than regrowth would go a long way in the appearance of my hair.

What do you guys think?

Definitely stay on Fin unless you are getting sides from it. Have you considered using Rogaine foam instead of regular Minox? I've had a lot of success with it, and not only that but it also makes my thin, fine hair look better during the day when I apply it in the morning. For me, it would usually take about 30-45 min for Minox to dry but with the Foam it only takes less than 10 minutes.

Thanks zippo2010. I understand minox needs be placed on the scalp. How does foam actually make its way to the scalp without saturating the hair?

You have to kind of massage it into the hair/scalp just like with regular minox. The foam just dries much more quickly and is also easier to style.
