So a little bout me im 27, of Chinese descent.

Ive started noticing hair loss August of 2010, use to have really nice hairline and always had a cowslick all my life. I started noticing strands of hair whenever i washed my hair and even just brushing it would cause a few strands to fall off.

In August 2010, was my last year of grad. school and the workload was heavy, I started smoking a few cigarettes a day for stress relieving and drank lots of coffee.

But I noticed my crown or where the cowslick started to be come very evident and was very self-conscious with my crown, constantly going to the bathroom and adjusting my hair to cover the bald spot in the mirror. And I also started to notice that my hair was very dry, brittle and curly. I never really had curly hair before.

In the pictures, i havn't had a haircut in like 3 months so pardon the appearance.

The strands of hair were just a few early in the year, like maybe 5-8 strands in my hands, but now currently its morel like 10-20 strands everytime i wash my hair. I am really scared i might have hairloss.

Now I smoke like 6 cigarettes a day, trying so hard to quit, but I go cold turkey in like 2 days of trying. Would stopping smoking help with the hairloss? Also my hair stylist to only use shampoo and now conditioner.

Any suggestions or advice? And should I go to a hair specialist or a dermatologist for my situation>

Also the strands of hair that fall out are long strands not short strands if that helps. I heard maybe there's something wrong with my stomach or colon which if is the case can overproduce DHT? Anyone ever get a colonic hydrotherapy?

Your hair looks nice, but in the close ups of the crown, it looks like you might have some thinning. And you seem to be noticing thinning or increased amount of hair falling out. So, I'd go to a dermatologist who should look at your scalp closely as part of diagnosis, something like this:

You might be paranoid, but if you're concerned about it, it's better to catch AGA early and prevent any more loss than to delay. Using meds, it's much easier to slow or stop progression than it is to restore what's lost.
