I have been to walmart, CVS, walgreens, and stop and shop here in the NY area.

All of these stores do not have or carry nizoral anymore and I cannot find any answers why.

Also what is a good alternative to nizoral?

Thanks again in advance!!!

doesnt have to just be Nizoral. just the Keto matters.

Besides if you search hard enough you will find it even it it means getting it sent to you from a local store if they don't have it on their shelves

Thank you very much, a concern I had also was if it was pulled off the shelf for something that was harmful.

Like they just discovered that Nizoral causes something to go wrong in you.

but yes where I am in NY not one store has it, and I'm kind of upset. It worked very well for me.

I'm hoping there is something I can substitute for it.

If anyone knows of a good alternative please let me know.

The CVS's near me and there are 3 all have stopped carrying it. ITs just Tgel and rogaine and a few others but no Nizoral.

I have been Nizoral for the last 5 plus years and it has been great for my hair.

I would hate to lose it.

I'm in CA and I can't find it in stores either. The Walmart was out, the CVS was out, and I managed to find just 1 bottle at the Vons.

Even drugstore.com isn't listing it anymore for sale.

Ok, I think I figured it out. Towards the end of 2010 they submitted some new changes to the FDA which included changing where their product is made, which also required new labels to be submitted to the FDA and approved.

I suspect the delay is due to them moving production and I guess whatever they had left over is being sold out and has not being replenished just yet.

That's a relief because I thought they may have stopped making it and I use it every day.

I called the company today and they said the out of stock situation should be resolved sometime in July.

So if your local store does have them it's probably a good idea to stock up.

Thanks Farrel. I will need to purchase it before I go away this summer so I should probably keep an eye out for it. It may not be as simple as running down to the grocery store.

BTW, I was thinking of asking my derm (who is very supportive of my endeavor to treat my hair loss) to prescribe ketoconzale gel. Have you ever heard of people using this? When I use the metrogel he prescribed me for my chronic acne and redness I can't help but to think how nice it would be if minoxidil came like that. It would be so easy to apply in my hairline corners. So when I saw that Keto comes as a gel, I thought it may be worth a shot. It should work better than the shampoo because I could leave it on for hours rather than minutes. I feel that a topical AA is important because T can still hurt the hairline and fin only reduces DHT.

I'm a NW 2.5 with very little thinning. My regimen is as follows:

1.25 mg of finasteride every day since April 19, 2011

1ml of minoxidil twice a day on the hairline since April 29, 2010

Planning to go on Oral Spiro starting September 1, 2011

I think keto gel will probably be more effective than Nizoral will. If your derm is willing to prescribe it then it may be worth a try.

Thanks. I will talk to him about this. I just never hear anyone here talk about it. Is Keto an effective AA or are there better ones?
