Ok I know this topic may sound a little weird, but I think it does make for some interesting discussion. I am new to hairloss and have just read on several websites that masterbation could indeed be linked to hairloss. One website even confirmed that masterbation leads to hairloss and gave an in depth reason as to why! I was shocked! Perhaps this is the reason why men lose there hair so young?

Bottom line, what is the TRUTH behind masterbation & a possible link to hairloss??????

Healthy Masturbation (2-3 times per week) doesnt cause hairloss but excessive masturbation does. One of the main reason is when you constantly masturbate your cortisol level will rise. After awhile the cortisol will go down as a result of your body not being able to cope with the stress from masturbation anymore ---> adrenal fatigue ---> hormones out of whack ---> low magnesium, low zinc ===> hairloss.

this has come up again and again, I would suggest using the search function. you could also disregard pimp's post because there is no benchmark for "healthy masturbation", there is also no benchmark for "excessive masturbation", etc, etc.

I agree, different people different strokes, what might be "excessive" for you might not be excessive for me .. but if you masturbate like 2 or 3 or even 4 times per day for 365 days in a year .. wouldn't that affect your health somehow ?

Any hairloss caused by masturbation is made up for by the resulting hair growth in the palm of the hand.

Yea, you would probably get callouses on your hands and then your weiner would fall off.

read the study (1st link) to see how masturbation affect your endocrine systerm and go to the 2nd link to read more about adrenal fatigue. Don't let others tell you what to do, resreach and decide for yourself.

When I first started masturbating 14 yo or something like that, i was stupid. Some days i would masturbate 3~4 times and this happened consistently for a while until my body gave up on me and i felt fatigue all over. I even went to a doctor when i was 17 about this but guy didn't give a sh*t. The period that i started feeling like crap coincided with the time i started losing hair. Fast forward 5 years and here I am with a NW 2 bordering NW 2.5 head of hair, it's amazing that I made it through high school and got into university despite feeling like crap all the time Go figure.

I'm not telling you to cut off masturbation completely but do so in moderation.

We should not classify masterbation itself as having any popssible effect on hairloss. It really makes no sense and many people do not want to believe it.

It makes sense that if there is any correlation between hairloss and orgasms, it is not the wacking off that causes it. Instead, it is the hormones that are stimulated through the process of generating this effect in the body, whether that be via sex or masterbation.

Having sex with a partner in general (either with or without masterbation) will cause the same effect on hairloss, if there is any.

I believe that someone who has a healthy sex life has different hormone levels from that same person who could be depressed, single and not spanking the monkey enough.

We all know hormones are strongly related to hairloss, but good luck trying to figure out what that is...

Please do not buy into this nonsense. Ejaculating once a day is entirely normal. The so called doctor who makes these claims is first of all not a medical doctor, secondly he misrepresents the outcomes of studies to make this claim.

If you notice he sells pills along with his info. There has never been any credible study saying that ejaculating frequently is harmful. If anything studies have shown that men who ejaculate frequently DECREASE their risk of prostate cancer.

Please search the old threads here for more info, there are now dozens of these same threads that all end with the same conclusion, ie there is NO credible info showing that masturbation causes hair loss or any other problem.

The only people claiming this are those selling these pills, and all the other sites simply parrot this same misinformation. Both masturbation and hair loss have been in existence forever and no medical study has ever shown that hair loss is caused by masturbation.

PS There will always be a correlation between hair loss and masturbation simply because its the same hormone (DHT) that causes both to occur, it stimulates your sex drive so want to masturbate often, and it causes hair loss as well.

That is why a side effect of lowering your DHT levels is a decrease in sex drive. If sex drive was not a result of pre-existing hormone levels then nobody taking Propecia would ever complain about a decrease in sex drive.

This is such a simple and obvious truth.

What do you mean he's not a real doctor ? he got an MD for gods sake.
As for that mentality "he's only trying to sell you stuff". So what ? If what he sells help with Adrenal Fatigue, what's wrong with that ?

Wait a minute... Proscar is used to treat an enlarged prostate....

So if ejaculation and proscar are both beneficial for your prostate... and proscar can help keep your hair.... !?!

All you guys who are refraining from masturbation in hopes to keep your hair might actually be loosing hair by the second... better check your pillow in the morning, and count all the hairs that fell out...

The two conditions are unrelated. Prostate cancer and an enlarged prostate are two different medical conditions with different causes. DHT is what causes an enlarged prostate, its not what causes prostate cancer.

here there is no difference between masturbation and sex drive. so the question should be "will ejaculation cause hair loss?" and unless you are constantly ejaculating and are constantly erect i don't think it will affect you that much. i don't see how ejaculating and beeing hard 4-6 times a day can be good for DHT levels, but i don't think jerking off 1 time a day will make any difference. now if you spend all day looking at porn and jerking off for an elongated period of time then yeah that may cause a much longer level of increased DHT, but jerking it once a day probably won't change your hair. just my opinion.

Well, I've asked a few people and it seems no one's really sure to what extent sex/masturbation increase testosterone. Although I'm actually going to see an endocrinologist soon and get my testosterone level checked...

Let me share my personal, anecdotal, probably-not-like-most-people story, though -- who knows, maybe masturbation and sex *does* increase testosterone which *does* increase hair loss? I didn't masturbate until I was 17. Until I was about 32 I masturbated, frankly, about once every two weeks. Or much less. My sex life was also pretty crappy and, except for a brief period here and there, I didn't have sex that often. When I was 32 I got into an awesome relationship AND I simultaneously started masturbating fairly frequently (let's just say it was encouraged by my partner, unlike previous GFs I'd had who didn't want to hear anything about me masturbating). So my average number of orgasms-per-week went up from about 1/2 to about 5 or 6. In the year since then, I've lost TONS of hair.

Now, this could be just genetic coincidence. Or this could be due to stress -- despite my awesome sex life, I was also going through a lot of stress at the time. It could be depression. It could be a "self-fulfilling prophecy" just by me believing that sex & masturbation can cause hair loss, I guess. :/ (Though I didn't start to wonder about this until after I'd already noticed that I was losing hair.) But, maybe it's because of increased amounts of testosterone flowing through my body?

Who knows. Hopefully an endocrinologist will be able to answer the question for me. Of course, ideally I'd *rather* be in a relationship where I was having sex 5 or 6 times a week, rather than alone or in an unhappy relationship where I was having sex maybe once a month. Y'all can weigh my crappy sex life versus my anecdotal, possibly-coincidental hair loss story.

Your testosterone levels can be elevated just by being in a relationship. So you are correct, one can stay single in the hopes of saving a few hairs, for who knows what, or you can enjoy your life.

Personally I don't see how ruining your sex life is going to benefit you since the theory is you mostly care about your hair because it affects your appearance and therefore your chance of a relationship.

Its kind of crazy avoiding a relationship or regular sex just to save a few hairs.

The ENTIRE argument that masturbation can be linked to hair loss is based on the fact that ejaculation can alter hormone levels. There is absolutely no evidence (nor even any decent theories) beyond that.

Well, the hormone level changes caused by masturbation are tiny and temporary in the big scheme of things. I mean they're virtually NOTHING compared to the tiniest bit of anything else that could affect your hair.

Seriously, use Nizoral on your head one more time per week if you're really that worried about it. That would probably blow the negative hair-effects of all ejaculation out of the water several times over.

If you're still wanting to abstain from whacking off, then stop lying to yourself about why you're really wanting to do it. You're not really motivated by preventing hair loss. That's just your excuse.
