Hi guys

I have been taking 2000mcg (2mg) of Biotin vitamin supplement as part of my regime to combat mpb, but after reading a extract on an article entitled 'What Biotin does for you' I am unsure whether to continue using it. Below is the extract :

'Biotin deficiency is not very common, but if a person is deficient in their biotin/vitamin H, the symptoms often include depression, fatigue, loss of appetite and either a dry scalp or possible hair loss. If biotin/vitamin H is taken in excess, the most common of the biotin side effects will usually include male pattern baldness'

My question is taking a Biotin supplement making my mpb speed up than actually slowing it down ?

I wouldn't super-dose any supplement.

Vitamin H (Biotin) is nontoxic. Even when taken in high doses (2,500 mcg to treat hair and nail problems), there are no known side effects. For this posted study to have ANY significance they most post the dosage at which they are referring to. I would put very little merit into your post.

I've been taking 3-5mg of biotin daily for years and have had no adverse effects on my hair. My fingernails are very clear and shiny too

i was talking 3 1000mcg pills a day (3mg) and just ordered 5000mcg pills. do you think it's a mistake to take that high dosage a day?

Biotin is a water soluble vitamin, any excess is flushed out of your body.

"will usually in include male pattern baldness" Don't believe everything you read, especially on the internet.

No. Disregard this article. I'm not saying it's going to help you, but it's highly doubtful that it will hurt.
