Besides me?

I feel like I'm the only Dutasteride user on HLH (or the other forum) with progressive pics.

I'm on my second round of Dutasteride, about 4 months in, and I've seen some general thickening around the top, crown, and sides. But I lose scores of hair when I comb my hairline and temples-- scares the bejeezus out of me. I'd love to see some success stories on dutasteride...

The search function revealed 1 or 2 users who posted 6-month dutasteride results, but they were not using genuine Avodart, and their pics weren't progressive.

Sorry about the lack of cogent flow.

I am on dutasteride. Since about 4 years.
I'm still loosgin hair, but less quickly I think (I had to stop using it for about 1,5 months a few years ago, and I started to loose more hair, and to feel my hair very weak (hurting very easily when pulled).

That's all I can say

I've been using it coming up on 2 weeks...I will definately be posting my results frequently. Nobody on this forum really talks about Avodart...its frustrating. Regrowth.com has more information on this matter.

I've been on Avodart for like 4 years, 1 pill everyday. It's not working. Maybe slowed it, but who knows. I've been contemplating taking Finasteride too, I don't know why though. I know dut. is suppose to be better, but maybe my body would react diff. to fin? I dunno.

I've been on genuine GSK avodart 1 pill/day for 4.5 years now and haven't lost any more hair since starting.

im about to hit month 7/8 on genuine avodart (before I was on imported, not-so-much brand name stuff...still seemed to work, though). I'm pretty pleased, really: my hairline has stayed more or less intact, my vertex spot has maintained and thickened a bit, and my diffuse thinning up top is still thin but has def. thickened up to a pretty respectable degree (I've also been using 5% minox, even before the dutasteride).

I imagine that if the new phase III trials go well there may soon be lots of guys on Avodart for MPB. good luck.

I was on dutasteride for 1.5 years. My hair thickened everywhere but the crown, where it actually thinned substantially. Also, my natural blond hair turned almost black. This was with a combination of dutas and minoxidil. I have since dropped the avodart for other reasons having to do with...well, down there. I have been off for only 2 months.

I've been on Dut since Dec of 2002. I'm glad I decided to get on it.

Yes Mike, can you comment on your first stages with Avodart. I am looking to make the transition from Propecia to Avodart and I am trying to determine the best approach to doing so

Hunter and Green Lantern, my first months on Avodart really surprised me.

When I started Propecia in 1998 I experienced a decent shed and had erection problems for four or five weeks. So when I started Dut I figured it would be worse.

But the only side effect I experienced with Dut was some left nipple swelling (tenderness) for a few months. I experienced no shedding after starting Dut. And if anything, my sex drive increased for a while.

Green Lantern, when I first started Dut it seemed to stop all hair loss except for the temple/hairline areas which continued a slow recession. It was only after I used Dut + a good topical anti-androgen that this recession stopped and that I saw some regrowth/thickening in the temple areas.

Dut did help increase the overall thickness/texture of my hair. But one problem with Dut is that while it sharply reduces DHT, it also sharply increases scalp testosterone. I believe that testosterone (in addition to DHT) plays a role in hair loss. So if you're considering using Dut you should be sure to use a topical anti-androgen also. Dut will inhibit most of your serum DHT and the topical anti-androgen will help counter the scalp testosterone and also any remaining scalp DHT.
