Which do you prefer and why? Has anyone used BOTH treatments and obtained results from one and not the other.
I do not use either of these but it seems as though the two are the most common topical treatments to combat DHT and thought it would make for a good discussion if those weighed in their opinions or experiences.

Hey JWM,
It's been awhile since I posted here! How are you? Hope your battle with HL is going well. Mine is going through a very GOOD phase right now. And the truth is - I'm not sure why!
I've not used Revivogen, but I have used topical spiro 2 and 5% off and on. Like so many regimens, the main three: finasteride, minox 5%, and Nizoral (and Dr. Lee's Shampoo) has been my main Tour de' Force for the past umpteen years. When I was using spiro, I didn't notice a significant improvement. But when I think about it, my loss seemed to mostly maintain.
Recently I had an interesting accidental experiment with Rogaine Foam. I used it for like three months. Then for my India Adventure in June of this summer, I didn't bring it due to the anticipated heat. (we hit 104 degrees some days). But when I returned home after trekking in the Himalayas for a month, using only Minox 5% from Target, my proscar quartered, and Regrowth Shampoo from Dr. Lee, lo and behold - my hair looked better than it has in years! Sincerely, I had people there thinking I was 15 years younger than I am.
So go figure!
Now I'm in a quandary: I don't know if the foam was working or not! So I'm in an alternation phase right now - mostly 5% minox liquid, with a few nights per week of the foam, just in case.
My crown this weekend looked better than it has in 10 years. Truly, I don't get it.
All my best, Friend!
Sunhead

Congrats Sunhead! That sounds great.
So which do you feel benefited you the most. The liquid or Foam minox? Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Dr. Lee's shampoo helped. It's good stuff.
Good luck and keep on fighting.

I used both in the past at the same time (spiro 5% cream and revivogen). I thought that spiro 5% worked but revivogen didn't. To this day I'm using spiro 5% and minox 5% liquid (dropped the revivogen). For me revivogen just stained my pillow cases and made my head stink. Spiro & minox is ok for me but spiro & revivogen produces an odor. I'd rank folligen ahead of revivogen as a topical. I have never heard of revivogen doing anything positive for anyone.

Can you elaborate MMA? How long have you been using Ell Cranell and what is your loss pattern like?

mma, I also use Ell Crannel Alpha. Do you mind telling me how often you use it and how and when you apply it?
I usually apply it about 10-15 minutes after a minoxidil application. How do you do it?
Right now I only use it around 3 days a week.

mike s ,
i also use it about 3/4 times a week,(every other day) even though no reason why it cant be used every day ,wash my hair, then put it on at night before i go to bed, i put it all over my hair with that two pronged attatchment thing, even though it is just my hairline that has receded im a NW2 so i concentrate more there on my temples, it seems to be maintaining my hair(,and i have noticed some short hairs sprouted up in my temples, could be the revivovgen i suppose, doubt it though ), even though with hair loss you never know if your just going through a maintaining peroid naturally, as hair loss can be very slow in *some* people, i do have quite slow hair loss,i started at 24, what i thought was a mature hair line, but at about 32 my temples started getting worse.im 35 now
on the other nights of the week i use revivogen, not because i think its a great product, but mainly because, i dont want to put my eggs in one basket ,with one product, and cant think of what other topical anti androgen to use on those nights, of course i would use RU if it was more commercialy available, and alternate that with ell crannel instead of revivogen
mike s, how are you finding it, are you getting maintenance on it ,any sides? do you use fin aswel, ?

I don`t know about that ! Been using Topical Spiro. for quite some time now and it does seem to help me maintain the hair I have. And you can avoid much of the smell if you keep away from washing and rinsing your hair in hot or warm water in the shower. I would say Revivogen is the topical not worth using.................i`ve read from other posters here that it dosen`t seem to do much.

Thanks for the support, JWM!
I think that it may be Dr. Lee's Shampoo working with my minox liquid that has really improved my hair condition. While I still have a fight in the front, the crown is much better than it has been in years. I was using the shampoo at least every two days in India. And the foam I had stopped completely for the liquid during the trip.
I'll Keep you posted! Good luck with your own progress!

mma, thanks.
I think Ell Crannell Alpha is one of the most underrated hair loss topical treatments out there. I use a mutli-pronged regimen, so I can't be totally sure that the Ell Crannell is totally responsible for giving me the good results that I have gotten.
I also use Dutasteride, Flutamide (on temples only), several different minoxidil solutions, and Tricomin.
My results have been quite good though. I was a Norwood 2 back in 1996, and I'm a Norwood 2.5 today (if that). I've been able to stablize my hair loss for the most part, and have gained some added thickenss in some areas (temples).
Ell Crannel helps convert scalp testosterone into estrogen. Ell Crannell also helps hair grow. So I think it's been one important part of my regimen. I haven't gotten any side effects from it.

JWM, I am going on my 5th week with Revivogen and my hair shedding is starting to decrease. My hair is looking thicker and I am definitely responding to it like I did 2 years ago. I think the biggest mistake I ever made was quitting it. I used Lee's topical spiro and it smells way worse than Revivogen. Spiro seemed to make my hair look worse. I have a whole jar of it still and I will never go back to it. I started Proxiphen a few days ago on the front area only. That stuff is virtually odorless and really does not go on that greasy( its more like a paste). I know Revivogen helps me so now I am hoping between using the Proxiphen and Revivogen only for the frontal area I can thicken things up again. I do not use any topicals in the am.
