here's the text of his post:

"I've been drenching my scalp w/ MSM only for the past year. No DMSO,
no arginine, no minoxidil, etc. I'm 35, and my hair is now better
than it was at 21. I had a visible bald spot by 24, and now there's
no spot whatsoever--in fact, you can't even see the part line. I'm
growing it out for the first time in a decade, b/c in the past it
would look like shit if I tried to grow it long, and now it grows long
and thick. I even have to put pommade in it now to control it, and it
looks great with the wet look. Additionally, my gray hairs have
virtually vanished, similar to Oz's experience. This didn't happen
until I started applying the MSM+distilled H20 mixture to the sides of
my head (where the gray hairs were) as well. Recently, countless
people have asked me if I'm dying my hair dark.

Periodically, I apply a MSM+DMSO mixture to my face, and my skin has
become soft and virtually wrinkle-free. The reason I don't use DMSO
on my scalp is b/c my hair texture became greasy.

I take oral arginine on and off, 2-6 g/day, but I've been doing this
for five years, and all my results have occurred in the past few
months.

I also have used topical spiro (both % concentrations) on and off, but
I've been doing this for 3 yrs., and again, all my results have been
post-MSM.

The MSM for me is more than a temporary thickener. If I go w/o it for
a few days, there's no change.

So . . . for those of you who don't want to use DMSO for any reason
(e.g., the poster who has suffered terrible eye problems), I would
recommend trying massive amounts of MSM only for a few months. (I
saturate a water bottle with the powder, and soak my head with it
night and morning). For all others who have had great success w/ the
brew . . . carry on."

----------------------------------------------------------------

someone asked about his mixture: "Could you please advise approximately how many ounces or grams of MSM and how many grams of DMSO in your mixture?"

and he replied "In a 10 oz. bottle I usually put about 15-20 gms of MSM. I go through about a bottle per week."

i assume he's talking about a 10 oz bottle of water and MSM, not DMSO.

anyone think this is believable?

Perhaps it is the topical MSM that is the key. The DMSO just improves absorbtion.

Are all the people having success w/ OZ Brew using MSM??

While I have zero data or experience, this doesn't sound crazy to me. After all, MSM is a byproduct of DMSO. So, if DMSO is working so well for people, it's plausible that MSM will work too. This link gives a ton of info on MSM (http://www.supreme-greens-msm.org/MSM.htm). And while it doesn't say a word about hair growth, it goes on and on about the virtues of MSM. And, if you're a bit spooked by the smell and/or risks associated with DMSO in your Brew, you may want to go the MSM route.

Currently, my non-DMSO Brew consists of Kirkland's, MSM and L-Arg.

I'm using MSM (topically) the last few weeks myself. My hair does look better but I can't say its the MSM doing it itself since I am in the 4th month of minox use and that could be kicking in on its own. What I could say is that when the MSM dries with the minos it does thicken my hair.

voleur, do you mean it improved your existing hair, or it has caused regrowth? also, where do you get your cream?

Definitely both regrowth and thickening of existing hair. I also take about 5,000 mg of msm powder a day. lots of shock on the looks of the faces of people i haven't seen for a while.

The msm liposome cream i get is called "msm serum c". It is located in the cosmetic section of Whole Foods market.
it is fairly expensive, $25 per tiny glass bottle of it. Lasts me about a month and a half. I would say, that with my regimen i have reduced scalp inflammation by about 80%, but i am using a lot of things so no way to tell what one thing is working.

currently i use:

msm lotion with liposomes.
jason's aloe vera gel
ell cranell alpha
lipozyte plus
folligen spray
saw palmetto (480 mg a day)
msm internal (5000 mg a day)
jason's thin to thick shampoo.

Well DMSO is growing hair because it increase beta catenin for one, i dont know whether MSM does that. But they are closely related, but no way is liquid MSM more powrful than DMSO.

But maybe a good idea for those wh dont want to use DMSO.

I am interested in this statement... I would like to do that WITHOUT DMSO... Possible? Anyone have any details as to how he does it? Application?

I agree with jtjt. Topical MSM makes sense. Oral MSM stimulates cortical cells. Topical MSM with a penetration enhancer such as DMSO might work even better to the point where even atrophied follicles are stimulated.

5 mg fin/day
1 application 5% minox/day
Ginger PO shampoo every day

Time out:

If you've had such dramatic hair improvement, why are you waiting until NOW, when there's a MSM thread, to say something about it?

Hmmm....it might make a really good oz brew lite. Instead of using distiled water use liquid msm and add some DMSO. I mean the distilled water does bollox all.

I actually have been taking oral msm for awhile...not sure if it doing a whole lot. BUT..a few months ago I'd add a good amount to my minox bottle, and apply it then. All I can say is it did make some kind of an improvement. Might not have been alot, but just to add it to the bottle was ez and it helped.

Was there any specification as to how many times a day he applied it?

I just added 3000mg of MSM to ~2oz. (65mL) bottle of distilled h2o.
(Divided "In a 10 oz. bottle I usually put about 15-20 gms of MSM. I go through about a bottle per week." by 5)

Should I refrigerate this mix when not in use?
