Who has been on Proscar/Finasteride/Propecia for at least several months, and then stopped?
What happened in terms of scalp itch, hair loss, and how did you slow down (if at all) the negative bounce-back effects? In other words, did you replace finasteride with anything that may have slowed or blocked the resulting hair loss?

Hey dude, I was on Propecia for 8 months and had to stop because of skin problems! Now two weeks off it and my skin and much better, My sex drive is a little bit better and I have started to lose my love handles! However as for hairloss who knows I use Xandrox 5% and 12.5% and am going to add Spiro 5%. Dr Lee tells me that I should beable to at least maintain my hairline with the Xandrox/Spiro comb! He also believes that Xandrox and Spiro are better than Mindox and Propecia! Then again he would say that....

Good Luck

Yeh this is a good question!

To anyone who has stopped after atleast 6 months of use: How do you feel now?
Side affects? hairloss? Gyno? personality? Hormones?

I was on Dr. Proctors prescription formula for two years. After I stopped it seemed all the hair I kept was lost in about 6 months-- so Im back to my normal loss rate. Merck says if you stop taking Propecia you will lose all of your results within about a year--maybe sooner.

i was on propecia for 4 months and stopped using it about 2 weeks ago, after reducing the dosage to .5mg/day for a week. today my shedding seems to have started. lot more hair in the sink after brushing my hair...got scared and took half a pill of propecia.

i think i'm going to take 0.25/day from now on and hope that it will keep the DHT under check.

i stopped mainly because of serious sexual side-effects. it started improving about a week after stopping and the last 2 days.. i could feel my impotence was nearly gone. i am NOT sure what i'm going to do now.

i would love to get some topical DHT inhibitor. I'm definitely going to order Dr. Lee's spiro and Retin-A.
I'm not sure about the rest. Any suggestions/help are welcome from the experienced folks here.

You were literally impotent?

How old are you?

My suggestion is that next time you feel the impotentence coming on you try taking arginine.

OrthoMolecularFreak,

i used proscar for 6 months, and dropped it(cold turkey). i started using saw palmetto extract immediately. i didn't really have a large shed after stopping proscar, i assume the saw palmetto extract may have taken up some of the slack. (which was the plan)

i've been using saw palmetto extract for just over 2 months. i have not lost any ground whatsoever, my daily loss is very low, and my hair is looking great. also i do note a noticable reduction of body hair. mostly what has happened is the hair is much shorter than it used to be, and slightly thinner(body hair). i do urinate less frequently as well.

i did notice a reduction of body fat a couple weeks after stopping proscar, not even expecting it, just noticed that i looked more "ripped" one day.

i have used no other treatments so there is no confusion.

just recently started using the zinc/b6 topical with 50% distilled water, 50% lemon juice 4 days ago.

Rasta: i was impotent within 2/3 weeks after starting prop. I had AMAZING results from minox+prop within 4 months, all thinning spots were gone; thicker, fuller, livelier hair. i tried arginine. i still have a bottle left but it didn't help the situation. i ordered some viagra (Dr. Reddy's Indian brand) and it helped but i think the real culprit in my case was the estrogen (no tests to compare the numbers as my Dr. won't prescribe them)... i had serious skin irritation too which went away within a week after i reduced my dosage to 0.5/day.

I just started the prescription Proxiphen Nov 26th, and have been using Prox-N for about 2 months prior. I can't find a complaint about the stuff. So far so good.

Morewood,

My situation is pretty much the same as yours. I was on Propecia for 3 years and I stopped taking it 6 months ago.

For the most part I've kept my hairline, but I have thinned out a tiny bit.

My regiment (before & still) includes 5%Minox with Retin-A. Though I'm thinking about adding something more.
