So I finally ordered fin! It's on its way and I looked into the dosage and its suppose to be 1mg every day but would it be okay to take 1.25mg? Should I buy a scale just to make sure I don't get too much?

its going to be expensive to buy a scale accurate enough. Also the pills have inactive ingredients like dye and binders, a 1.25mg finasteride pill is going to weigh much more than that. The prescription dose of proscar is 5mg and a lot of people tolerate that just fine. I'm no doc but I don't see a huge difference between 1 and 1.25

Regiment: finasteride 1mg, 5% minox foam twice a day.

I decided to go with 1.25mg and I'll keep this thread up to date since I don't wanna make a new one. I started taking fin on April 5th. My hair has been getting bad, hoping I'll make a relatively quick rebound. Wish me luck.

So it has been 24 days on fin, I wouldn't expect much to happen only in 24 days but I was hoping I would stop losing hair so quickly! It's bad! I can't seem to run my hands through what's left of my hair without catching a few hairs in my hands. I've been losing hair so bad since a month and a half ago and it doesn't seem to stop either. Haven't noticed any bad side effects from the fin, so at least that is good.

Why dont you apply oils to make your hair thicker? I bought emu, castrol and coconut oil and mixed them all in my hand n apply it to my scalp and hair every night before bed then I put a shower cap. I have seen baby hair in my head but some still falling. I'm on lipogain for a lil bit more than two months so I dont expect results so soon but for what I've found online those pils are very good for hair loss. At least it makes thick n stronger that hair that you have. I rather keep what I have then losing all.

Well Stratus, it's just too much of a pain in the ass and minoxidil will work better. I might try it still but right now, no. So I've been on fin for a month and just today I noticed my hair wasn't falling out nearly as bad as it has, it has been a vast improvement in those regards. How long until I notice regrowth?

Hi dq47,
Many men experience hair shedding when they start the treatment, and it is normal. As about the regrowth, it can take up to 6-12 months to see it. It differs for all men. Be patient and you will see the results.

My hair was falling out like crazy a couple weeks before I even started the fin.... So I don't even know if it was the fin that stopped it or what.

Well I'm 2 months and one week into the fin. Nothing really to say about it, hair loss hasn't haulted, but my prostate is definitely smaller, probably not good. That's about it.

So what is the lowest dose of fin that you can take with it still being effective? I read an article that .625mg every 3rd day would be fine. http://www.hairloss-research.o...ateProscar2Jan-08.html

I'm on 5mg fin a day.
if that sounds insane , ask my dermatologist about it. she prescribed that amount.

Been taking .625mg every other day, and finally I've noticed the hair isn't falling out that much now. Now just gotta get to the phase were it stops completely. I started up minoxidil again a month ago and that's really helping. I'm feeling much better about my hair. My hair hasn't gotten thicker that I can tell but with the new growth, it's definitely filling in and I have high hopes for the next few months on this!!!! I wish I had done this years ago, but the denial kept me from doing it. By the way I only apply the minoxidil once a day at night trying to get it evenly over my scalp. I quit the minoxidil a while ago and now I wish I didn't. I don't think there will ever be a baldness cure, there will only be treatment that you have to constantly uphold.

Use a CRTh2 antagonist. If not then your hair will still get attacked because of the high amount of PGD2 in your scalp.
