A few months ago I suddenly got many gray hairs on the sides of my head, and since I am only 25 years old that kind of scared me. This week I used a mirror to shave the hairs in my neck. This way I noticed something that looked like a bald spot on the crown of my head, although I can't tell for sure. Some baldness does run in the family, but it seems like it only sets in around ~40 and it does not start at the crown of the head. Am I just imagining things or am I really going bald up there? Some input is really appreciated
It looks like a normal hair whorl to me but with MPB you never really know. If you are concerned, the best thing you could do is monitor your situation - perhaps take pictures after every couple of months and then compare.
That's exactly how mine started, on the first picture you can see the cowlick, that's what I thought too, it's nothing, then in a year it progressed into massive thinning, back then I thought I still had 5-3 years until it became noticeable, how off I was. I'm not trying to be negative or scare you, it could really be nothing but it could also be the start so do check if it progresses further.
