As a longtime fitness buff, I firmly believe in the the vital role diet can play in general health, including the health of your hair. While a great diet will not do much to help with the onset of MPB (only drugs like fin or dut can do that) it CAN help with the general health/vitality of the hair you still have. I believe the excellent results and abundant hair I had for many years w/ Propecia (and still clinging onto for dear life) were only enhanced by diet.

Here is a short list of foods I eat almost everyday or at least 3-4 times weekly, specifically because they contain nutrients that are purported to be good for your hair.

Fresh spinach
Fresh kale
Carrots
Lentils
Grapefruit
Wheat germ
Brewer's yeast
Brazil nuts
Flax seeds (partially sprouted- Go Raw makes awesome products)
Pumpkin seeds
Wild caught salmon
Whole eggs (often 1 raw yolk in my protein shakes)
Plenty of other sources of lean protein (chix breasts, Greek yogurt, no salt added cottage cheese)

Additionally, I eat virtually no processed foods and very low sodium. My only vice is one cup of black coffee daily. However, I don't know that this is as bad for your hair and general health as some make it out to be.

Please share your ideas.
