hey yall,

i just came home from seeing jarhead with jamie foxx. after months of being on this site and reading posts and being a strip patient, i noticed his strip scar like a bullseye on his head. his work was great, the scar is pencil thin and can be seen in a few different scenes. im wondering who did his work.

i pointed it out to my girlfriend who promptly said "what?...huh?" just goes to show, the trained eye that isnt familiar with these pages doesnt notice the specifics that we do.

the movie itself was great. its sad, its funny, its moving and inspirational.

Hahaha. He DID NOT have a hair transplant, and that's not a strip scar; it's a tattoo. This has been brought up a million times.

No black man would ever be a candidate for strip surgery if he intended to wear his hair as is popular with black youth because (1) blacks are susceptible to keloid scarring and (2) because no current hairstyle would permit hair long enough to cover the scar.

Many people post photos of Foxx with a higher hairline, but they don't understand that blacks, who naturally have lower, more linear hairlines than whites, often shave the hairline back.

Funny, i saw it this afternoon and there is this Indian looking guy in the very beginning after he has signed up who CLEARLY has a strip scar.

100 percent no doubt about it.

yeah, i noticed the asian/indian man's strip scar also. totally forgot to mention that one and its in the opening scenes. as for jamie foxx though, the tattoo isnt there at all, but you can see a whitish scar around the back of his head, its definately a strip scar.

i think he had some help in taking care of himself post op, both of their scars are pencil thin.

good eyes yall, keep it up

If Jamie Fox is the recipient of an HT, the question would be why?...The photos that reveal a somewhat higher forehead (than his abnormally low hairline of recent days) whereas he was a NW1 to begin with. He was not balding/receeding by any account and possessed a straight hairline...If surgical enhancement is true, this is certainly what I would call hair greed!

I saw the movie on Friday night and I noticed this guy's strip scar in the first 5 minutes as well. The guy has a military buzz cut and they show him from the back angle sitting at a desk. It's as clear as day. What this means to me: The moviemakers must feel that the general public doesn't notice these things and probably have no idea what such a scar signifies even if they did notice. But to us HT guys, it is impossible not to notice. After I saw the scene, I was asking myself, "Did I just see what I think I saw?"

As for Jamie Foxx, there is no question that his hairline looks completely different than how it used to. But I kept an eye out for his scar in the movie, and was never able to spot it.

I caught the scar as well. Also, I have noticed that in many interviews, Foxx's hairline magically moves up a couple of inches and then in performances his hairline moves down. Don't tell me he shaves it for the occasion, because it is so obvious that something funny is going on... His hairline in Ray was very apparent(3 inches or so up his eyebrows), yet at the Video Music Awards it was about an inch above his eyebrows...

Strange,

That is the explanation and, indeed, the correct explanation. Blacks regularly shave the hairline back because many of them have very, very low and linear hairlines that appear strange if not shaved back. This is why so many blacks appear to have a 90-degree hairline-to-temple connection.

This fact is proof that it is just about shaving it. He has had his natural low hairline in the past, and he has shaved it. You will see him with the higher hairline again.

The paranoia about the prevalence of hair transplants is curious. It ought to be plain to everyone that Foxx had nothing done for a NUMBER of reasons:

(1) He has shown both high and low hairlines in the past;

(2) It is a common practice among blacks to shave the hairline back;

(3) A strip scar on a black man is very hard to hide because most de riguer haircuts for black men require the back to be shaven;

(4) Baldness in the black culture is not viewed as an aesthetic demerit. Indeed, there is next to no stigma associated with it;

I saw the movie and Foxx definately has a scar on the back of his head. There is no doubt about that; and it' consistent with the all the scars we have - so I suspect it's from an HT. In the film, he did not have the tattoo he sported at the Oscars; I read that it was a removable henna tattoo. As to where he had grafts placed (if he had it done), I'm not sure. I know his hairline moves up and down a bit, but I would believe that he shaves it. The hairline itself doesn't move much, but the distance from the temples to his eyes seems a lot closer these days. I have not come across any old pictures of his crown though. Maybe I'll spot something on the in-living color re-runs.

The guy in the first part of the movie did have an obvious scar, it seems like they shot the back of his head (and close up) on purpose; maybe it was to distract from Foxx's, or maybe it's just that everyone is getting it done.

Watch the movie and see for yourself but don't let it distract from what I believe to be a really good flick.

Empire,

As much as I would like to agree with you, I must disagree with you on this one. When watching that show "Inside the actors studio," Jamie Foxx came in with a shaved head and although shaved, you can see a partial shadows distinctly showing where his "TRUE" hairline resides at and once again it validates my point that something funny is going on. You be the judge and try to be as fair as possible (As a lawyer) when judging the following pictures:

Do I really have to provide you with anymore proof? You can distinctly tell where hair grows and where it does not as seen in that first picture...

For some reason I find this statement humorous. I know there's a good joke in there somewhere...

Q. Why do they bury lawyers 20 feet deep?

A. Because deep down lawyers aren't that bad.

Ahh that was quick. Thanks JC. Let the piling on begin.

The devil visited a lawyer's office and made him an offer. "I can arrange some things for you, " the devil said. "I'll increase your income five-fold. Your partners will love you; your clients will respect you; you'll have four months of vacation each year and live to be a hundred. All I require in return is that your wife's soul, your children's souls, and their children's souls rot in hell for eternity."

The lawyer thought for a moment. "What's the catch?" he asked.

In all honesty, Im not trying to have a pissing match with Empire, because I don't like getting into those. What I am trying to do is let the pictures speak for themselves and allow for others to reach their own conclusions as to whether or not Foxx did indeed have a HT as indicated by the large strip scar on the back of his head and his ever-changing hairline.

This picture says it all.... He shaved his head to the skin and you can see the small shadow coming in and his hairline is so high its ridiculous as compared to the previously posted pictures:

Now, I'm not going to put together an eloquent verbal concoction to make empire seem out of place or detail my response as to make it seem more important/meaningful than it is based on the use of large words obtained by placing the simple words in Microsoft Word and then highlighting them and having the thesaurus work its magic,...No, Im not going to do that. I will just allow the pictures to speak for themselves.. Hold on, before I leave, I'd like to mention a few things with regards to these points Empire mentioned:

Quote

(1) He has shown both high and low hairlines in the past

Based on all the pictures I can find of him from the late 80's and all throughout the 90's, his hairline was always very high.. Take a look and search for a picture of Foxx Circa-80's & 90's that shows different..

Quote

(2) It is a common practice among blacks to shave the hairline back;

I've never heard of that and all throughout my youth I grew up close to black people.

Quote

(3) A strip scar on a black man is very hard to hide because most de rigeur haircuts for black men require the back to be shaven

That's not completely true. Not all black men sport shaved heads or fades or anything along those lines that we will show the scar..

Quote

(4) Baldness in the black culture is not viewed as an aesthetic demerit. Indeed, there is next to no stigma associated with it

A bald man is a bald man regardless of his color and his look will take a hit by it unless he has very favorable facial characteristics. Prime example, take Bill Cosby and Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan can sport a shaved head because his facial characteristics and overall head shape caters to that, but shave all of Bill Cosby's hair off and you will have an ugly specimen.. Two different people and two prime examples of how being bald can have "asthetic demerit" if on the wrong person.

A huge example is L.L. Cool J. This famous rapper for over 10 years of his life would always make videos with hats on. Why do you ask? This is not part of his signature look by choice, it is more by default. He wrote it out in his autobiography that the main reason he wore a cap for over 10 years in videos and public appearances was due to the fact that he was bald during his early twenties and the stigma associated with being bald was one he could not deal with.... Now, if L.L. Cool J doesn't know what being cool is about, then I don't know who does...

DHT

P.S. I like these discussions, because, in the grand scheme of things, Jamie Foxx could care less what we think and will probably do more with his "strange" hair than the rest of us will do with whatever we can obtain, but, at times, demistifying something as simple as a minor flaw in a movie star can make us little people feel human as well...

It's certainly not "proof." At best, it's evidence. I made mention of the fact that he has appeared with different hairlines in my earlier post, and I attribted this to the fact that blacks routinely shave the hairline back.

Quote

No, you can't. Pictures lie in general because angles and lighting have a dispropotionately large effect on the accuracy of perception. Very often, pictures are inaccurate, and this is especially the case with hollywood personalities who are constantly having their appearances changed.

The charge that Foxx had work done not pass muster for the reasons that I articulated below:

(1) He has shown both high and low hairlines in the past;

(2) It is a common practice among blacks to shave the hairline back;

(3) A strip scar on a black man is very hard to hide because most de riguer haircuts for black men require the back to be shaven; and

(4) Baldness in the black culture is not viewed as an aesthetic demerit. Indeed, there is next to no stigma associated with it; and

(5) No transplant could have achieved such an angular and dense result.

I've told you guys time and time again..
Jamie did indeed have a plant. Have any of you guys watched his movie 'Redemption' yet?
You can clearly see the strip scar on the back of his head in a few of the scenes. Not only that but he shaves his head bald in some parts and you can clearly see some balding/thinning areas (crown etc.)..

Why do you guys even care about Jamie Fox having or not having had a transplant? What difference does it make?

You're right, but if he has had one then it makes us all feel better because someone of his stature has the same insecurities as all of us.

In his case, what makes it more interesting is the engima that is his hairline. It's like a puzzle that we must solve so we can move onto more productive things, like creating a cure for AIDS or solving global warming.
