I've been using Alpecin C1 and ASL for 3 months. Although they say It should be used effectively for 4 months before You could notice an improvement, I have a legit right to post results since I've noticed some.
First of all, I'll tell you my surveys and how I have fought against hairloss for years. In the year of 2003 I started using Minoxidil 2%. I washed my hair every day using Green Tea. Zinc and B6 pyridoxine were taken orally every day. Minoxidil definetely grew some hair in the vertex area. Crown area showed moderate growth. The frontal area was almost unaffected except showing some vellus growth at temples and frontal hairline. After 3 years I switched to Alpecin.
My idea was to regenerate and regrow hair using minoxidil and then the hair that was regrown stimulate further with alpecin. I must state that I've been using Alpecin C1 and ASL on a daily basis, never skipping a day during these 3 months and frequently I apply ASL 2 times a day. I am also taking Zinc+B complex along with Green Tea and Green tea tablets.
For the first month my hair was shedding and it was thinner and thinner, since I stopped applying minox. After 3 months I noticed that vellus hair turned into temporal hair and all hair roots that were viable turned from white, to brown( I am a blonde guy). The frontal area is completely empowered. The hair at frontal and side temple areas are showing some regrowth. It is my presumption that vellus hair which was regrown by minoxidil turned into temporal hair by applying C1 and ASL. Since caffeine is a vasoconstrictor it shouldn't be applied along with minox. since they will cancel eachother effects. Hair shedding is a past now and definetely the regrowing hair is showing signs of color and structure change.

Chino, you must know that every lotion and/or topical medication is only a step to a healthy hair. You must stop DHT from attacking hair roots by ingesting DHT blockers orally. Alpecin will definitely strenghten viable hair roots. Caffein slenders hair root thus protecting it from harmful effects of DHT, but to reduce overall level of DHT in your body, you have to know what to ingest orally. For someone natural DHT blockers( like Zinc, B6, Green Tea, Grape Seed, Saw palmeto) could be enough but another must rely on powerful chemicals such as Finasterid..etc.
So you could expect good results from Alpecin, even better if you have some vellus hair.

Minox,
It's just my presumption. I have seen no evidence to support my claim, so it is only my presumption. I don't see how smart is for someone to put the two opposite things on the same side. It would probably cause no effect at all. Minoxidil is a vasodilator, and caffeine is a vasoconstrictor.
I would like to see more info about how those two things could work together. So far I have seen no evidence that those two things when put together could cause some regrowth.

blueshard: I bought Alpecin C-1 from lookfantastic.com, and I just ordered another bottle of C-1 and a bottle of ASL.
I've been using it a month so I haven't really noticed anything yet... that site i mentioned though is in England and prices are in pounds, so it's pretty expensive. I cant find any dealer in the US that sells it so I just went with them, you might be able to find some on ebay though.

I used Alpecin C1 and ASL daily for about 3-4 months and noticed very fine hair growing on the crown of my head which had been totally bald for over 9 years. Needless to say i was very impressed with Alpecin as i am a total sceptic that had no faith in the product to begin with, however after a further 3-4 months use there has been no further improvement i still just have very fine soft hair that is barely noticable.
I have read through the forums about various treatments and it's left me really confused so if anyone can point me in the right direction as to what i should use in conjunction with the Alpecin i would be grateful.
So if like me your not sure C1 and ASL will work then i must say give it a try and see,if it made hair grow on my completely bald barnet after so many years then it's worth the money just to try.
If i get some advice as to what i should use i will keep posting so others may give it a go also...............Thanks in advance and i must say how can you all know so much about the products out there lol ?

Wow thats a bit harsh stilldeciding, What has anyone got to be wary of exactly ? if it's maybe because i work or are associated with Alpecin as my work i'm afraid to say i'm more boring........i work in plastic extrusion and i wouldn't stick that on my head lol.
All i want to know is what should i use now that i have some fine hair growing,i thought about a laser comb (i don't make them either) but i haven't heard much about them from people that have bought and used them.
So stilldeciding yes i am a newbie but so were you once and if you do decide to actually help with advice which i thought this forum group was all about then i will say thanks and give something else a try.
Cheers all ...........happy hair growing !

Erm. Alpecin is just a caffeine shampoo. Will only temporarily bring a rush of blood to the scalp.
If you are on minoxidil, be warned when coming off it! You will find it greatly difficult to regrow that region of hair again which has been stimulated by minoxidil.
I agree. The above must be spam.

Can't remember reading about a review on this. Apparently alpecin shampoo is a vasoconstricter and will inhibit the effects of minoxidil - counterproductive.

I've been using this stuff the last month or so, to replace nizoral.
Niz usage was correlating with grey hairs, which are now disappearing (quit niz 2 months ago)
I love the stimulating sensation this stuff gives to the scalp and follicle. The scalp feels amazing afterwards and lasts most of the day.
Today I noticed multiple hairs sprouting from follicles, where previously there would only be one.
I have a shaved head (to the bone) and can easily monitor hair growth, new hairs, lost hairs etc. It's very easy to see.
I actually thought I had black spots appearing on my scalp before I looked up close.
Then I got up close and saw it was just follicles with multiple hairs sprouting.
If this trend spreads across more of my scalp, I'm gonna be in for some very dense coverage.
I can't say for sure alpecin has stimulated this extra hair growth since I've regrown a lot of hair over the last few years.
Other advantages to this stuff:
You can use it daily.
Smells good.
Decent price for a good sized bottle.
I'd recommend this stuff to anyone.
There's not much reliable feedback on here for alpecin from regular members - so there's my honest review.

I only use Alpecin Sensitve now. Minoxidil screwed up my skin in a big way and destroyed the collagen. I've written about why I changed to Apecin only, as I want guys to now how destructive minoxidil can be:

Alpecin is a known scam product that sadly is very successful in europe. Any improvement is pure placebo effect as this stuff is nothing but a plain shampoo with a dash of caffeine powder added. Spend your money on stuff that works like Fin, not on this crap which in my opinion should not be allowed to advertise as helping with hair loss when it clearly cannot.

Well I'm not going to get caught up in the science of it all, but I agree with one of the guys above about using it every day with no issues. I have full coverage of hair, but it is super fine hair, so for me the C1 shampoo is great as it doesn't dry out my hair everyday, and whilst I am not sure about any new growth claims, it does fluff up my hair to make it feel like a head of fuller thicker hair. I use this along with the Rogaine foam once dry. Again I haven't seen an major improvements with this stuff (but I have full coverage so hard to notice maybe) but I find the Rogaine foam once dry really makes my hair feel and look thicker.
just my input....
