So how many hairs you figure you lose per day? Furthermore, how many hairs does somebody who DOESNT have MPB lose per day? I'm just curious cuz I'd say I lose over 100 hairs per day. If I don't wash my hair, the next day I lose alot more. Also, I always seem to get at least a few hairs in my hand every time I run my hand through my hair. How bout you guys?

Well, they say it's typical to lose 50-100 hairs a day. I think some may lose up to 150 without truly having a hairloss problem. That's what they say anyway...before I began losing my hair I lost 0 when I combed it and 0 when I washed and conditioned it...now it's a totally different story.

First noticed hairloss in 96 and have been solidly losing hair approximately at the following rate since:
-90 to 100 on pillow in morning
-120+ in the shower in the morning
-100+ when i comb afterwards
-140+ during the day(on jumper,after activity,after combing
and wetting hair during the day etc)

FOR A GRAND TOTAL OF ALMOST 500 HAIRS A DAY

I have often commented that I am the worlds fastest loser of
hair. I am actually surprised I have any left actually and I would classify myself as slightly worse than the latest situation of jude law.It might give you some idea why I jumped on loniten. The lucky thing for me is I now keep my hair short and just comb it forward and because of my young face people dont think i am too old and often say that i look 25 which is what i am. However I know that im not going to be able to get away with it much longer as the crown has diffuse thinning as well for the first time this year.

i used to lose between 50-70 max, and that was at the first minox shed i had, after that it went down to the usual 30-50 and i had bad scars, now that i use a moisturising cream called sorbolene to remove the irretation, i lose about 0-5 hairs a day, today i lost 4, (one long one from the front and 3 short clippings from the back, i remember at the time i was loosing 50-70, i would never count the small clippings..)

Hi.......Like its been mentioned before regular daily hairloss or fallout is usual,but......when we are on a regimen and see this we have a tendency to "freak out" a bit more!

Bottom line for me is i am careful how i shampoo my hair, comb it,style it etc.Remember to use the balls of your fingers when shampooing and comb or brush your hair gently as opposed to how we did things years ago prior to MPB!

I don't mind losing 5-100 hairs a day, even 150-200 a day if its natural. What I do mind is that unfornately it seems that 80-90% of the hairs I lose daily seem to come off the top of my head where I need it most.

Whenever I wash my hair, I lose alot. After when I comb my wet hair, I lose alot as well. In both cases the majority comes off the top, while only a few comes off the sides and back *sigh*.

I never see more than 3 hairs on my pillow in the morning. I loose about 20 in the shower. I am not under any regimen at the moment (appart from Nizoral), but my hair has thinned a lot over the last year. WTF?

I think this "be careful how you wash your hair, use your fingertips" stuff is nonsense. Your hair isn't falling out because you don't wash your hair properly, it's falling out because of your genes. Any hairs that fall out because you washed "too violently" were about to fall out or shed anyway.

Hmm, interesting. Everybody, run your hands through your hair a few times right now, and tell me how many hairs came out. I just got 2, 4 and 6 for a total of 12 hairs.

Sorry man, I don't do shit like that. I just put my retin-a cream on my temples and i lost a hair to my disappointment. I try to be extremely gentle with my hair as I am growing it out. I just get depressed counting hairs

I cant get any to come out right now. I probably only lose 5-10 a day suing 1.25 Finisteride daily. I remember years ago looking at the white tiled floor of my girlfriends bathroom and being HORRIFIED at the hundreds, maybe thousands of hairs from only a day or two. Things have definately improved for me.

When I used Nioxin I only lost a good 5-10 hairs a day when I took a shower and afterwards when I combed my hair. But when I use normals shampoos I lose around 30-40 hairs in and out of the shower. I think the use of certain products actually does reduce the hair loss daily. I'm just wondering what I should do to regrow my hair in thinning areas? You guys have any solutions or product in mind that could help me out?

I think counting hairs that are lost is nerve racking.Probably not good for the stress factor.SO I don't do it often.

Counting hairs is seriously stressful and it doesnt really amount to anything. You cant judge your hairloss by the amount of hairs you lose, its whether they grow back or not, which is impossible to judge. Have a look at a brush used by a girl, it is usually clumped with hair and they are not going bald. So do yourself a favor and stop counting. It doesnt mean nothing and its going to drive you insane and people will think you are weird if you ever get caught doing it.

that be gentle with your hair is a bunch of crap. when I first started freaking out about my hair 4 years ago I would just basically set shampoo on my hair and rinse it out without even touching it (what a dumb@ss). If your hair is going to fall out its going to fall out. personally I would rather have my scalp feel clean and revigorated after a thorough srcubbing than if I just did a wussy 10 second water rinse. I don't know how many hairs I lose a day I stopped counting (im guessing somewhere in the low four digits). I just shaved my head to about 1/8 inch and slop on some topicals as fast as you can say "fvck it", and then I go to bed.

Will

p.s. nothing is as convinient as the 12.5%minox cream when applying to really short hair. woo-hoo for doctor lee for making more time in my day while making me poorer at the same time.
