I was watching the news - and one of the stories was that Prince Harry has not washed his hair in two years!

I found an article here too: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/new...-two-years.html

Then a man was interviewed and he had a nice front line, and healthy hair and he said he hasn't washed it in six years!

I believe this works... however is it different to men who have MPB? I mean, I myself, I shed a few hairs and I and my temple hairline is receeding and I have realllllly hairy body! So lots of DHT play there....I never washed my hair for four days the other week, and my hair got extremely greasy, and I felt more hair came out - but apparently you have to wait a week or two to overide that...

I know a few south asian men who hardly wash their hair, even though it is oily looking, there's still alot there and it looks great...

I was going to start doing this, but probably washing my hair once every week or two weeks, with natural shampoo from Lush..

However I came across Alcepin and I'm not sure whether to do the "non hair washing" or use Alceping every two days or so...( http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Not_...air_causes_hair_loss)

It may be different to MPB men because the DHT is produced in the scalp, making the hair oily - thus washing your hair would be a good thing. No?

What do you guys think?!

I don't think I can stand not washing my hair for just one day let alone in weeks. I find that the more often I wash my hair, the quicker it grows. What is your theory of not washing hair anyway? Is the shampoo the problem for MPB? Besides, what good it is to have some hair while no girl would come close to your smelly head?

ok i often post this story alot but here goes again

shaved my head for 4 years in jan 08 i grew my hair out.
For about 6 months i used Niz since i heard it was good for you. It turned my hair into crap, my sides and other non MPB areas were thinning. I heard people use other shampoos or conditioners to help this. BUt all it did was make my hair dependent for shampooing everyday. I was shedding alot, flakes, dryness. Tried to stop shampooing but things got worse. Guess my hair got addicted to it

In Jan 09 i shaved my head again for 2 weeks got some sun. Grew my hair out, only shampoo 1x every 10 days, just so my hair smells ok. Alot of the hair i lost came back, my hair was darker and thicker. All was awesome.

But this week i had a out of control dandruff problem with lots of shedding. Im using Niz and selsun blue. Im hopeing that in a week this will be over and i can cut the use of shampoos.

So basically ya, i think cutting shampoos will help. It did for me. But i have bad hair, that im guessing needs PH balance all the time or something.

Personanlly, I'm worried about smell too...but if you're washing it with warm water (no shampoo) I don't see the problem...

However, the point of the thread is, is this different for guys with MPB? As DHT accumlates in the hair when not washed?

I know clearly, that not washing your hair won't halt MPB alone.....BUT men with MPB don't wash their hair, will that hasten the process?

Funny you should mention that... I think I read somwhere that washing with vinegar is need for PH balance...not that I'd do that...

But I'm confused should I just use Alcepin once or twice a week - despite the website saying I should use it daily to wash the DHT out of my hair?

they say niz does the same. DHT goes away, makes hair thicker have like months of use.I have a feeling Alcepin will strip away all your natural oil when u use it.

IF u want to go a more natural way, try 1x a week. If that.

If not then feel free to use Alcepin 7x a week.

All i know is, i have thin hair, which im guessing is very weak too. So im staying off shampoos.

If you use topicals you have to shampoo or else you will get a build up on your scalp. I have not shampooed for just a few days and during those days I was applying topicals. My scalp got itchy and there was a build up of dead skin and topical.

If you use topicals you must shampoo in order to maintan a healthy scalp IMO.

If I wait more than one day to shower, my hair smells terrible.

i agree with standstrong. if you use topicals, especially minox 2x daily, i don't see how you could go without shampooing. it might possibly be ok for a day but going a week or so with minox buildup would not be good.

I totally agree

I have to shampoo twice a day, I rotate btwn NANO Niz and Rev
Rev is lovely btw

And i have to comb my scalp once or twice a week to remove the "gunk" build up from the Topicals I use

I just took my monthly head shot and cud see some discoloration when i looked at it on my laptop

So i soak my scalp in warm water for 5 mins under the shower then combed my scalp, damn the amount of gunk that come off....loads of it...but not like dandruff (which ive never had) but just lumps of "gunk"
I re took the photo and there was a massive difference in scalp color

Im a bit paranoid now, coz when i see it on the laptop it looked well bad

Anyway, combin the scalp is a must for me....and coz my hair is sooo thin
