how do these guys have such thick looking hair?

i have even seen some of these rockstars in the daylight outside and i cant tell that anything is fake. and they get seaty on stage and it looks so real. you know that they are gonna lose their hair if not worse just like everyone else. of course there is exceptions. but with alot of drinking and drug use too.....how can they be exempt from it. i ahve ven been to parties and seen the swimming in pools in the hollywood hills.

do you think they use toppik?
hair piece?
professional hair stylists? if so...eventually someone would tell wouldnt they? how do they go out in public everyday and have hot girls running their fingers through their hair? groupies would tell just for money to the tabloids.

look are nikki sixx of motley crue for example.

or eddie vanhalen.

sammy hagar.

i mean...like nikki sixx of motley crue.....how could the whole band have their hair? maybe a few...but all?

look up some of these names on photobucket.com. type the name in the searchbox. look for the most current picture.

lets critique nikki sixx for example. what is going on with his hairline. hair transplant i top region and long hair to hide everything?

nikki sixx current hairdo: http://photobucket.com/mediadetail/?media=http%3A%2F%2Fi66.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fh246%2FCruebaby4life%2FNikki%2520Sixx%2F97c49357.jpg&searchTerm=nikki%20sixx&pageOffset=9

and please...dont say.....rockstars are like everyone else...and some lose hair...and some dont. i know this. and maybe nikki just doesnt have hairloss. but.....its a business that would treat a hairloss sufferer with cruelty. i mean...some do shave it bald...but not the majority.

It is statistically normal for male pattern baldness NOT to be showing on the majority of guys whatsoever under age 45 or so. And even then, the statistical norm still means most of them are only showing smaller amounts of loss even when it does start to kick in. So even when they DO start to lose hair, they're still left much more transplantable than most of us.

Read it and weep I'm afraid.
We early hair-losers really are the exception. It's not that they're so lucky, it's that we're so unlucky.

Many of those rock stars wear wigs, I would say a large majority of them do if they have been around for years and have no signs of any recession at all.

man....i am not saying that they dont lose their hair like we do. i am saying....is it the money they have to invest in cover up products? or better hairloss doctors? beter transplants? or what? how long has finesteride been around? since the 80's? u think famous people were informed of finesteride before the widespread world was for its ability to slow hairloss? im thinking...record companies made certain information available to rockstars as a way of protecting investments just as they have managers influence them to stay skinny. in rural america...most people dont even know finesteride and minoxidil exist still to this day. it is as if "we"...the type of people "we" are.....decided to research our hairloss on the internet and are vain people. but maybe more intelligent than your average hairloss sufferer to start with. but...we may not be smart at all for worrying over our hairloss or even risking damage to our bodies by experimenting with various meds. wait...i got off on an entirely new subject here.

and i know...some just lose their hair so fast like us that they cant do anything no matter how much money they have. but...for example..that bald picture you showed of billy corgan of the smashing pumpkins....he probably just doesnt care if he loses his hair(or had no choice but to embrace it) and probably and embraces his baldness as a way to make his image seem even odder. but then you have some that would be willing to get a transplant...or wig. its like the rockstar types care....and the alternative music types dont. this of course would be based on glamour rock verses alernative and underground.

but back to nikki sixx....does it look like he may hair extensions? or what?

Or other rockers of a similar(ish) age.... Axl Rose, David Lee Roth, Nirvana's Krist Novaselic; Ronnie Dio; Kevin Dubrow; Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons; Bret Michaels (and now Poison's Bobby Dall is pushing NW3 territory); Joe Satriani; most of Metallica (esp Kirk Hammett who has a TERRIBLE transplant)....

And the first two's battles against hair loss are legendary. Why do you think Axl has that awful corn-row haircut? Certainly not through choice. And Roth has a good transplant result (if he appeared on the forums most people would be saying, "Yeah! Great result!". But because he's a rock star and you're supposed to have GREAT hair he still gets ragged on by a lot of people.

I think a lot of them wear wigs - it seems odd that a lot of Nu-metal and nu-punk bands have at least one bald guy in them. Did the music cause it? Nah. Are people getting balder, younger? Maybe. But the most likely reason is that it's more acceptable to be bald now (certainly than in the 70s or 80s when MPB also meant career-death).

What amazes me though, is all the REAL old timers who still have great hair, like Bryan Ferry, Ozzy, Mick Jagger and Bowie. Especially since Jagger's little brother has a huge bald patch on his crown.

i wonder what is the reason behind axl roses hair? u think his HT looks bad....so they weave on extra fibers to hide it?

and david lee roth? it sorta does look like a HT to me. but is it confirmed?

i am a rocker too....and i have long hair. my hairloss came on very very sudden...and i now have diffuse thinning....and mostly vertex. miserable. but i can lay in some toppik and it looks a little too thick as long as my hair is long. but if it rains...im screwed...the black stuff runs down!!!!! what can i do?

If affects them big - they are usually vain and sensitive, but they know their odds
The bald guy is usually the bass player -- and for good reason.
I saw Rod Stewart with all these women fawning over him on daytime chat show- very recent- and you know what he said, stroking his hair, quite out of the blue without any prompt? "I look at old photos and I can't believe it's exactly the same" before turning to a lady on his left and whispering VERY loudly, 'It's all mine dear". I mean an old crooner like him who still gets loads of ass, knows how to get it.
Sure there are bald ones getting it- but they are using the bald thing as identity, complete with jokes, one-liners all the time 24/7. The Mick Jaggers and Rod Stewarts let their hair do the talking and then when they need a lit bit extra do what Rod did on the show with the whisper bit. Nowadays, DJs are the new stars, and they wear baseball caps a lot.

Neither have been "confirmed" as such, but Roth especially has been pretty open about the state of his hair as he has rarely worn wigs or hats. It srated going mid 80s (by "Skyscraper" he was pulling a pretty obvious comb forward) and you can see how over the years it got thinner and thinner, then slightly better, then better to the point where he is now. I'd bet my house on it being a HT.

Axl was rumoured to have had a Meyer Fleming flap (which didn't work) and I've seen some photos of him (mainly at live gigs where the stylists aren't around) where the cornrows are obviously fake hair glued / tied into wispy existing hair.

Another one is Mike Anthony, the bassist of Van Halen. He wore a rug for a while, but is now sporting a pretty obvious HT. Hammett's work is the worst, though. All the way through "Some Kind Of Monster", I coudn't help but stare at all the doubles and trebles in his hairline. Again, just goes to show, you may have more money than God, but if you don't do your research your results will be poor.

Even Axl's ex-bandmate Slash is starting to thin out, look up pictures of him from the Fast and Furious 3 premiere. Scott Weiland too. There's no secret, dude. Is it so hard to believe that a lot of the guys drawn to rock n' roll music are also blessed with good hair genes? Nikki didn't have surgery, he's just a grand prize winner in the genetics lottery. He's nearly 50 and his hair is thicker than most 30 year olds. But the BEST hair in all of rock n' roll goes to the man I pay homage to in my screen name, Sebastian Bach This guy could have made a killing doing shampoo commercials.

For some reason, people cannot bring themselves to believe that Mick Jagger might be wearing a wig. I believe he is, and lots of other folks do also. I suppose it's his whole persona, the whole act he puts on. It is an act though, that should not be forgotten.

Nikki Sixx looks like a wig to me but i could be wrong......david lee look horrible but i don't think it's just the hair......also guys like brett michaels do the bandana hat thing along with wigs......It must be tough to be an aging rock star who once had the crazy 80s hair.........i think i woulda been happy just to have hair into my 20s..

What's that line about "MPB won't be detectable until 50% of the original density has been lost?" Well, that's probably true for the average male with relatively short hair.

But if your hair can still look great when it's fully grown out 1-2 feet long, while you're on heavy drugs all the time, and you're in your late 20s or early 30s? I think that's just gonna demand better-than-average hair genes.

I think the rockstar process just weeds out a lot of bad hair genes early in the game. I'm sure the wigs are out there, but I'll bet the numbers are a lot lower than with the general population.

And then there's HTs:
Less MPB in general not only makes the hair last longer, but it leaves the guy much more transplantable even when the loss finally does begin to show itself.
