My hair has been thinning for about 1 1/2 now, full coverage no balding, no recession, but thin, doesnt stand and hold like it used too!! Im gettin ready for summer so the other day I went to the salona and had my hair bleached to a sandy champlagne blonde, no yellow, but a dirty champagne blonde! and wow does my hair look good! You cant in any way tell im thinning, in fact my hair looks thicker and it looks like I have a lot more and it hangs and looks awesome!! I highly recommend this instead of shaving for the summer!!!

How much are you going to love it when the bleach makes your hair fall out faster for next summer?

I actually buy this.

First of all, any sort of balding/thinning is worse for people with dark hair because it leaves a greater contrast between hair and scalp.

Second, chemical agitation of bleaching has been known to lead to brittleness. For those of us whose hair is too thin and fine, this can be a welcome side-effect.

It's very important that we do not abuse exclamation marks. I once heard a (nearly) true saying: we only get three(3) exclamation points in our lifetime, so use them wisely. Think about it.

to Radio head,

Actually when the salon bleached it they rubbed some sort of light oil in my scalp to prevent/minimize the chemicals from touching the scalp, and when she applied the bleach- she did it in sections/ starting from the roots up, at no point was anything rubbed into my scalp, and whats even more cool is that that the little dark roots from my natural hair which is light brown/dark blonde gives it great contrast on my scalp from the rest of the colored hair, looks great..........

Minimize is the key word my friend. I know a lot of people that bleached their hair and the damage was much worse later...........male and female.

Hope it works well for you though.

but im sure those people you knew had it constantly done from the root/scalp. I only have to do this once every 3/4 months. I bleach it and let the roots grow out giving it the nice undertone...........

Personally, I found going darker helped me more then lighter.

hair dye/bleaching usually isn't linked to permanent hair loss---with bleaching, you could get a chemical burn, but even those usually heal w/o causing too many problems. The problem would be overdoing it on thinning hair--that can cause breakage, which will make the thinning more pronounced. Done properly, though, it can actually be quite an improvement.

Old dead topic but I wonder about gradually lightening with something like lemon juice or that Sunin stuff.

I remember I went lighter (I'm dark blonde) years ago and it was the fullest my hair ever looked.

On the flip side, anyone have experience going darker with henna?

If I regrow enough hair I will consider dying it into blonde color.

I actually bought a can of toppik with a colour slightly blonder than my natural hair colour.
Works really well.
Not that I really need it, but it gives this nice ultra thickness plus a neat highlight effect without r***** the hair in terms of general quality (you know how brittle it usually gets after the sweet ol acids)
